As I haven't been down in over two years (<img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />), what's the situation with mooring balls and areas for anchoring near Saba/BEYC? I'd actually prefer to anchor out when I'm there, as we may be rafting for a while with another boat.
Thanks in advance for the advice <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />

There's room for a couple boats to anchor N-E of the Saba Rock moorings, between Saba Rock and Prickly Pear Island. You can also anchor all along the south shore of Prickly Pear Island, west of the moorings, though it does get deep rather quickly and there are usually numerous liveaboards anchored there in season.

I've seen more than a couple boats anchor between Saba Rock and BEYC directly in the middle of the channel to Eustacia Sound - not a bright idea.

The west shore of Prickly Pear Island, north of the moorings at Vixen Point, is a very good anchorage with shallower water, though it can be a wet dinghy ride to Saba Rock if it's choppy.

I will never forget being on a mooring ball there on our very first trip....the kids were so little, Zach and Haley were only 9 and 10 and they were swimming over board when all of sudden Haley climbs back on the boat and was like "Mommy a blue fish bit me", she was so cute...I looked over board and there were swarms of jellyfish!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> and she had 5 star shaped stings down her whole side .... they were not in the water when the kids jumped in but had come through in the current while they were...anyway all was ok! But sheesh it was crazy!
