Orient Road Trip Last Call
Random wrap up thoughts and comments on our March 4 to 16 trip

Toronto non stop each way, no issues.

Great service from Jeannie of ShopnDrop and Wilfred Brooks our driver. They really start the vacation the right way.

Rum updates – Petit Casino was selling Ron Zacapa for $45, great evening sipper and so convenient……
Bacchus has a good selection of rhums, settled on JM XO – new to me and HXE XO, a favorite rhum
Came home to find my liquor store selling Saint James Royal Amber – ice, lime, sparkling water, almost back on island!

Thought Orient Beach overall not so busy – too be fair have not visited 1st half of March, but still thought it slow compared to late Jan and Feb.

La Playa evenings – they are open but maybe bring a jacket, it’s breezy. We wandered over, but each time no one there, so went back to Yellow Sub for Happy hour -where to our surprise we met pandp, who are also from Burlington - Canada

This yr, no car, did not miss it. Last yr, we also stayed in Orient Village, had a car and felt we needed to use it, when we probably didn’t. To be fair we always use a cab [even when we rented a car] on the 1st and last days for convenience.

This yrs “discovery” was to souvenir shop on our last day. Wilfred took us where we needed to go, our luggage was safe in the cab. Shopping on our go home day maximized our beach days.

Liked our unit – Sunny Beach in Costa Caraibes. Realized we could leave for the beach out the back slider, reach in and push the shutter button and slide the door shut – don’t forget to have your unit key with you!

Pet peeve previously ranted about – beach floppers, who drop a towel in front of you – we would generally move them. Even better a group of 5 who rent 2 loungers and camp out in front of 3 loungers.

Loved the Chez Leandra cooking - note order in advance, takes 30 – 45 minutes, but you it means freshly prepared food.

Charlie [ Good Time Charlie’s] was generally “cookin”, occasional air guitar riffs.

Some days snacked only for lunch and then maybe a late day shared lobster wrap at Pirates [was Ethinic] chatting with Maurice. Never got to the jerk chicken at Pedro’s, but heard it was good.

Generally lounged in front of Brothers with Reuben looking after us and Monique running the bar. Try the Brother’s roti with Monique’s hot sauce or ask if they have a any local dishes – loved the pork collar, simple and tasty.

Overall maybe our best and most restful trip in years, loved it – next yr is our 40th anniversary – kids say try somewhere else, tough call, we’ll see what comes.

Great wrap up, just the way we like to do it. No need for a car in the village.

Our kids said we should try somewhere else for our 40th also. We said if it isn't broke why fix it. Our favourite jewelery store even gave us champagne. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

Hate to break it to you, but most jewelry stores will probably give you champagne even if it isn't your 40th!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> Congrats on the anniversary, by the way! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

was thinking how much money you have given the jewelry store. The champagne is a bargain!

No such thing as a free drink at a jewelry store. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Can't even begin to tell you how much we have paid in 10 years worth. But they are all lovely pieces. Lol
The chocolate & white diamond ring this year is lovely. yes, the champagne wasn't free but a nice gesture, right? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
