The Grand Lido Negril has been resurrected, as a much smaller au naturel resort. There are 20 some rooms, where the old a/n side was. It is part of a larger resort now, which took over the rest of the resort. It was supposed to open in February, which I assume it did.

Too rich for us most likely. I think I would be "uncomfortable" having a butler anyway. It is very encouraging that someone is willing to start up another clothing optional resort. so many have closed in the past few years.

Keep in mind that those are rack rates. They have had one 25% off sale already, but it's over now. I just look at the rack rates for Couples San Souci for spring next year and an Ocean Vehandah is $898 per night. But, the special promotional price is $481 per night. It's fairly common for resorts in Jamaica to have very high rack rates and then deeply discount. 50% off is pretty common. No way we're spending $900 a night, but $450 a night is doable.

GLN's booking engine is actually showing "WINTER SAVINGS 50% OFF" right now, but does not seem to be applying it to the quoted rate. I'll bet if you called them you would probably get that rate.

We are contemplating taking one for the team and exploring this summer.

I am afraid we will be the only ones there...

If you can go on that special, it's a good deal. If you do, would love to hear about it!

So, the resort did not open until March 31st. It is still not complete and people are complaining about it. It is a huge property with very little beach. I will be going to Couples Negril in June and will see for myself, but reviews starting to get posted on Trip Advisor.

"very little beach"?? There was not a lot of beach on the a/n side before. Is there less beach now?

Yes, Carol. It appears that the building go almost to the beach and my understanding is that it is really a "pool" resort, as opposed to a beach resort. There are rooms for about 1200 guests, from what I hear. It's also 3 resorts into 1, a family area, an adult area and an AN Area. The strange thing is that they put the family area closest to Couples AN Section and people are complaining about that. Apparently the resort didn't disclose this to people. Not sure why they wouldn't have put their AN area there. It will be interesting to see what happens. It's certainly not like the old GLN that we all loved.

Huhm, ok. I knew they were putting in a lot more rooms, but didn't realize it was going to be THAT huge! I am assuming, without knowing, that the a/n area is basically where it used to be? Are people complaining about no beach in general, or no beach for the a/n section?

Assuming you're asking about the Couples AN Section? Yes, same spot. The people are complaining that their kids can see naked people. Some are complaining about the lack of beach in general and that the water is only waist deep. If you meant Royalton's AN Section, I think it's on the other side, closer to Hedo, but I may be wrong about that.

I was talking about the GLN a/n section. For some reason, I thought it was in the same spot where the a/n side used to be.

I would love to see an overhead photo showing where the various "sections" are located.
