Has anybody stayed here? Just looking for a clean and reasonably priced place to stay for one night before we move to our timeshare property for a week. Also have the elevators now been installed?
Thanks for any response.

I have not stayed there but a friend did a few years ago. It was fine but I think he would consider someplace else in the future. I am pretty sure the elevator has been installed. Whether it works or not, I don't know but one would hope.
Simpson Bay Suites is almost next door and might be another option.
For just one night, I am sure either would be fine.

As JD said, I think Wendell stayed there a few years ago and wasn't that impressed. To me, if I had just one night to cover, I think I would seriously look at Mary's Boon. It's on the beach, and they have a couple of rooms that are pretty cheap, as they are basically almost below grade. I wouldn't want to stay in for longer than one night, but it would be good for the first night, when I personally just want to get a meal and a drink and off to bed. You could eat there at MB or next door at Karakter. The next morning you could hang out on the beach there, as I figure you won't be able to get into your room at the timeshare until the afternoon. There is also a pool there at MB, if you want.

I stayed at Turquoise Shell Inn in Simpson Bay before checking in. They only have 10 units and you can request bottom floor. It's not right on the beach but you cross the street and you are on the beach. Clean and reasonable. Also well protected with security gates. My issue with Simpson Bay is the noise on the weekends.

I have no knowledge on this one but is the "Horney Toad" another option? I've seen the sign for this place but rarely read any information so this is partly curiosity since we may need to go off Sat to Sat to get better air rates in future years. We are familiar with Mary's Boon and like it a lot but would like to explore other options.

Here's another vote for Mary's Boon. We found this place purely by accident when yours truly got us to the check-in desk for our flight 35 minutes before departure. It's great for a 1 night stay, but longer is better.
Carol has hit the high points, except that the cheapest rooms are ground level--they're called Jr. Garden Rooms--and they go for around $80 plus 20% in the off season. Also, if it matters to you, they have a resident family of cats--MJ and her brood.

About the Simpson Bay Suites: We stayed there 2 years ago. It may have been repaired since then, but when we stayed there, it was an abomination. We spoke to the management about several issues, but they couldn't fix anything. The place is ill conceived, badly furnished and the air conditioning is blowing right into your faces in the bedroom. It is large, but too no avail. I got up in the night and went into the living room to sleep on top of the couch. Don't stay there if you can help it.

Also thinking that the Atrium Resort is perhaps another possibly in terms of pricing and suitability for a one night stay.
Thoughts?

Atrium would be fine. On another thought, have you inquired about renting the additional night at your timeshare? Many times they have "owners rates" or rooms available to rent as a hotel room.

And while I can't speak for YOUR timeshare specifically, I would definitely check out their pricing like ruralcarrier suggested. A few times we've come in a day or so earlier than our actual Towers time and rented from them at owners rents (less costly than renting from Orbitz...) and once, since our unit was available we were able to go into it when we arrived, a day earlier, and did not have to move from unit to unit. That usually doesn't happen and we have to spend the night (s) in the studio we rent but it's so much easier than checking in and checking out and then having to move to another location and do it all over again. Unless, of course, you just want to check out the other properties.....

Yes we could rent at Oyster Bay, but thought we would stay a night in the Simpson Bay area just as a change of scenery and proximity to the restaurant scene.
May still do OBBR as wife is leaning in that direction so in the end she may win out - wouldn't be the first time.
Thanks Pat.

I'm looking for a couple of nights in June before checking in at my timeshare. There are quite a few inexpensive options on VRBO, Simpson Bay Resort at $100/night being one of them - at least for my dates.

I stayed at Atrium last year and enjoyed it a lot. As far as pricing, it would just depend on what you could get.
There is something to be said for not having to move resorts, for sure, but if you always stay in Oyster Bay, a night in Simpson Bay would be different..

Atrium is a great location. I always liked the old school look of the place. The gates and carvings in the lobby. Cheers irina

Since the sale to new owners I'm not sure exactly what is available or when you're looking, but we've always enjoyed staying at Turquoise Shell Inn after a couple weeks at OBBR. They've remodeled all the lower floor rooms. info@tshellinn.com
Next SXM visit -November 2023. Also January 2024.
