We are staying there Dec. 20-28th. I would be interested to hear your thoughts when you return. I've never been to St. Maarten or anywhere out of the US so I'm a little nervous & excited.

Everyone seems to have their favorite place to stay. I always like to rent a car but at the Flamingo you can walk to a few places and you have a nice beach there. Maybe only get a car for a few days if you enjoy walking. The water is oh so windex blue in SXM, that you can get hooked on that alone. Hope you have lots of good weather, I am sure you will meet lots of people.

We're at LaViista Beach from Dec 16 to Dec 30 which is right next door. You'll enjoy it.

This is our 3rd time back. We alternate each year between SXM and Panama. But I'm thinking SXM is going to be our default place. We love that right across from Flamingo there a french bakery and restaurant. I get a good dealon rental cars and we will have one for the week.

Maybe Bon Appetite, which has been closed for the past few days. Strange.

We stay at Flamingo every year and enjoy it very much. This past December, it seemed to have declined a bit but still enjoyable. There's a French bakery (or at least, there was) at Simpson Bay Resort that was quite good. Bon Appetite isn't so much a bakery as it is a restaurant but it has (or had - sorry to hear it's been closed for a few days and hope it's not closed for good)good pizzas - we usually get a pizza from there at least a couple times during our two week stay and take it back to our balcony at Flamingo and enjoy the sounds of the water while enjoying a nice thin crust pizza.

They were open for breakfast this morning & said they would be open for dinner tonight. We ate dinner there once this trip & it was very good but we never got the chance to go back as they were unexpectedly closed for so many days.

Glad to see that they are still open! It really is a great spot within an easy walking distance after a long day at the beach
