Hi All: After many charters over 30 years, I am planning a land-based vacation in North Sound (either a villa or BEYC or Leverick). We can get cheap tickets to STT, so I'm curious as to the opinions on how best to get to Gorda Sound from St. Thomas... Any thoughts?

Charter flight or ferry. Taxi or car rental from Spanishtown to North Sound. Check ferry schedule as Speedy does do a STT/VG route one day(?) a week.

It appears that Speedy's doesn't operate from Charlotte Amalie to Spanish Town on Fridays. Is that accurate? I think our flight is on a Friday.

Yes, it runs direct on Tues-Thur-Sat. Otherwise, you have to go through Road Town.

Speedy does Stt on tues and thurs and sat. Otherwise take the roadtown fast ferry at 4:15 to roadtown and pick up speedy to vg at 6pm

Depending on what time your flight arrives,
you may be able to catch an earlier ferry.
Grab a cab to Charlotte Amelia Ferry dock.
Take the next ferry leaving for Road Town.
Only buy a one way ticket and pay cash as
some have reported fraud problems.
You clear customs in Road Town.
Take Speedy's ferry to Virgin Gorda
Taxi's and rental cars are available at the
dock in Spanish Town.
If you've got time to kill, food and drink are
available at the Petite Pump Room in CA
or Cappricio's in Road Town

Air Sunshine also flies STT-VIG. Looks like last flight from STT is around 5:30. Have done this a couple of times.

Using Air Sunshine in a month when I head down - first time trying them from STT to VIJ.

Shoreline Aviation is another fun option - they pick you up at the STT airport and you fly the seaplane into the North Sound. It can't be beat for convenience, and our experiences with them have been that they are a cut above in terms of professionalism, equipment, and safety.
