if all goes according to plan we will be on Anegada for Easter, which is also my Husband's 50th. Any idea what we can expect? This was his 50th birthday wish and weather permitting we shoudl make it but now I am wondering if that is not the best idea given the holiday.
Any insight?

Anegada is desolate, wind-swept, and very un-developed.
It has little infrastructure. The roads are poor, and not well marked. Not very many people live there.

It's my kinda place!

There are miles of unspoiled empty beaches.

You will find a few nice beach bars / restaurants scattered around the island.

There is good snorkeling from the beach off The Big Bamboo.

Excellent lobster can be had at a number of places.

The anchorage is relatively shallow (not sure if you're coming by boat).

We like to rent a car from Dean Wheatley (284-495-9677 or 284-544-3703) and explore the island. You can easily spend a whole day or even two visiting different beaches.

Anegada is the PERFECT place to spend a 50th birthday!
Maybe Sleepychef here on TTOL will chime in with what's open on Easter. My highlights would include Cow Wreck for the afternoon (gorgeous beach, great food & drinks) and then Wonky Dog for a spectacular dinner.

I have not been to Anegada since 1997 so I am hoping nothing has changed <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
Hoping that Easter Sunday will not make for any issues with closings. Thanks so much!

We spent my 50th at Wonky Dog last June and I think we're all still recovering <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

That day included more shots than many of us had done in the previous decade! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

Ha ha ha! We're not renting a car on Anegada this next trip - taking a taxi to Cow Wreck. Who knows what debauchery will ensue when nobody has to drive! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

Thanks goodness we have the pictures to help us remember! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />it was a great time and a great place to celebrate a 50th birthday. Wonky Dog made the occasion a very special time indeed. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

If you have not been here since 1997, you will find a lot of changes!

The anchorage has become one of the busiest in the BVI. There are many more docks, bars and restaurants around the anchorage.

Most of the roads are now paved. There is a roundabout at the anchorage.

Cow Wreck is way different. If you were here in '97, there is nothing recognizable from then except the fantastic beach.

Big Bamboo is much different than '97. It has expanded a lot.

The Anegada Beach Club on the north side was not here then.

But, even with all of the changes, life is still slow and peaceful here.
