I need help from the experts. I leave Saturday for my first trip to Virgin Gorda( been to USVI several times and to Tortola) and am bringing two VI newbies with me. The weather forecast looks very windy and does not predict one sunny day. Please help reassure me that this can change, or confirm the inevitable so that I can wrap my head around it.

Many Thanks!!

Save yourself some needless worry and stop looking at on-line weather forecasts. They hardly ever get it right since they ALWAYS predict rain. Pack plenty of sunblock - you'll need it.

Thanks so much for the affirmation. I know better than to look, but when I don't see the sun icon for the entire duration of your trip, I get nervous! I have many bottles of sunscreen packed! The excitement is almost too much for my niece and her anxious aunt! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/circle.gif" alt="" />

We just returned from a month stay.Weather was the best it's been in years. Little rain, great visibility (trip to Hog Heaven well worth it for the view)and cooler breezes at night. Winds a little funky, strange to see all the boats in Sopers pointing west.Water temps warmer than typical winter.

Here's the thing. The weather is what it is. You can't control it, and you can't change it, so you might as well just accept it. You might as well decide that you are going to have a good time no matter what the weather does. If you worry that the weather will ruin your trip, then it probably will. If you decide that you are going to have fun no matter what the weather is, then you probably will.

The Virgin Islands are beautiful and fun, regardless of the weather. Go down and enjoy yourself!

Must agree with Hillsideview. We have been down for three weeks. Another to go. Best weather ever and water temp almost 80. Next visit I'm doing an Ellmann- one way down. Return IF the weather gets bad.

I don't think I've ever been there when the forecast didn't show a stormy looking cloud with rain coming out of it. And I suppose it's pretty much correct - most days there is quick shower. Never stopped us from enjoying ourselves. Either under shelter or wearing a rain jacket or just getting wet. It's all good.

Since we are talking weather, I use a great site that some or many of you have seen used on the TV weather broadcasts. We use it extensively in the aviation community. Check it out:
https://www.windytv.com/?18.112,-64.591,9

There are menu bars and drop-downs and you can animate the forecast.
Cheers

I spent all my money on "Boats", "Broads", and "Booze"; the rest I wasted!

On one of our taxi trips to Red Hook one of the passengers "just our luck they are predicting rain everyday". Me, in my in my own mind ""yeah it might rain everyday but it's probably those small isolated showers you get all the time"". I think we had 3-4 brief showers during the whole 14 day cruise.

Life involves risks, take some prudent ones (NOT with the BVI ferries)!
