I have guests coming to St. Maarten with me. I figure we'll end up at or near Orient beach around lunch time on a Sunday. Any suggestions on where to go for lunch?

My suggestions would be LA Playa or Palm Beach. Excellent food and service at both.

I'm not looking for upscale. Would prefer ribs or something on the beach. Also thanks to everyone for all their suggestions.

For ribs and chicken, old time Caribbean feel, usually with steel drum music, I would say Pedros. For upscale, LaPlaya, but you said you didn't want that.

The 2nd day we'll do Grand Case. I have eaten at many places there. They're only here for a week, so I'm trying to go around the island - a little bit each day with one or two days for them to relax and do what they want. So many places to go and so little time.

We ate lunch at Orange Fever yesterday and today. Great food and service. No ribs but other great specials. Yesterday we had wonderful mussels and fries. Today one of the specials was a BoBun salad. It was delicious. Only available on the weekends.

for just ribs and such with local music Pedros if you want a nice longer lunch join me @ LaPlaya today. With very few exceptions you can't go wrong anywhere on Orient Beach. Sunday is the busiest day of the week so try and arrive early

Just don't get a burger at Pedro"s. By far the worst on the island.

The ribs at Coco Beach are terrific. Also great lobster salad and other items if you are interested. Nice place to take visitors
Not as busy as La Playa Or Orange Fever(both of which are great, by the way).
Coco beach has a beautiful beach, not terribly crowded and great food. I think, for what you want its the best place.
But do try La Playa, Orange Fever and Chez Leandra some other time.

If you are at La playa between 2 and 5, they have live music. The staff sing and dance around while serving the guests and many people get up and dance to the music as well. And the food is spectacular! We also love Orange Fever and Pedro's but La Playa is our new favorite.

I was there recently and had the best gouda cheeseburger by far than anywhere on the island...so thick and perfectly cooked. My first time there...beautiful setting.

The two Sundays we went there, it was a man and woman singing. They sang older (like 70's, 80's) American music and French music as well. We liked the French music as much if not even more than the American tunes It was really fun and we hope they have the same music next year!

We stayed at La Playa last April, but rarely saw anybody eating there. I heard they now have a new chef, is that correct?
