Howdy all, does anyone know of anyone/place that offers a laundry service, i.e. a place we can drop off laundry and pick up once completed? We have a group on a 10 day bareboat and would like to reduce luggage by reducing clothes hauled down.
Thanks in advance for the info!
Cheers,
EC
Q: What do you do all day when down island?...
A: I don't really know, but it takes all day to do it...

An alternative is to use the DIY laundry at Leverick Bay and hang out at the pool / bar while washing/drying.

Note that last time I used their laundry the machines only accepted tokens. And, those tokens were only available at the main office during normal business hours - make sure you plan accordingly <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />

I've used the two laundry houses on West End, they do a very nice job...about 1 mile North of the Ferry dock on main road....

You can also do laundry at Lil Bit near the ARH on Anegada. Supposedly you can drop off & pickup later, though the day I tried it she took the day off.

Ok I'm just gonna say it even though no one else has...
Even for a 10 night charter, you absolutely can pack light enough not only to not do laundry...you can also get by with a carry on.
"1/2 the clothes and twice the money" as the saying goes. 3 swimsuits to rotate and a t shirt each day and you are all set!
The laundry day at Leverick is a great idea though. Gotta be the best..."full service" laundromat ever?

Another thought..you know you are going to buy souvenir T shirts..just wear them and pack even lighter! BTW we use Emma on the south shore road, just west of the gas station..amazing full and fold service. But , on a ten dayer, I'd pick up two or three shirts as I went..

One of our last times down we had our laundry sent out at Scrub Island. We weren't planning on it but we had a very tough time finding a functioning laundry facility as they were rationing water at the time and/or machines were out of order. I was worried about how much it was going to cost but it ended up being reasonably reasonable. I think it was $100 for my family of five and we don't pack light. They sent it over to Tortola so I am pretty sure they just used a service over there. We've done it ourselves at Leverick which is fine but it was nice Just sipping on drinks at the pool and then having our clean laundry show up later that day. Nothing like having fresh clothes half way through a long charter.

We make a luxury stop at Scrub Island about 1/2 through the trip, they will do laundry for you at $30 per bag. Drop off by noon and pick up the following morning all done. My wife thinks this is a perfect vacation perk, happy wife happy life.

Thanks everyone for the great tips! Agree on 1/2 the clothes, twice the money. This trip we will have several BVI rookies who are asking about laundry, and I knew this was the best place to get the 411.
Cheers,
EC

There was a new laundromat (self service) at Trellis Bay. Anybody know how it is working out?

EC Ok El Capitan, tell the rooks they are doing it wrong if they need laundry done! Then again, extra time at Leveick in the North Sound doesn't suck either...

Speaking of dropping off laundry, does the lady across from the laundramat in the Settlement on Anegada still do laundry? She was excellent, reasonably priced and salt of the earth honest.

Thr Trellis laundromat seems to be doing fine. One of the regular liveaboards felt Ephraim could have gotten better machines, but they looked good to me, and I take laundry seriously. I will look again, but I thought they did fold and wash, too.

For what it's worth........ when we were at White Bay, staying out in front of Ivan's, we inquired as to laundry facilities. We were told there is a laundromat in Great Harbour. But if we wanted to, they had a gal onsite that would do our laundry for us. So we brought it onshore, dropped it off, and at the end of the day it was washed, line dried in a warm Caribbean breeze, and neatly folded. When we asked how much we owed her, she politely asked if $20 was too much. We were floored !! We gave her $40 and she was soooo grateful !!
Our day was freed up from laundry duty, we helped out the local economy, and each piece of clothing we wore after that smelled so fresh. I can't wait to get back there in May....... this time, EVERYTHING gets washed !!
