sailbynight Traveler Joined: Apr 2006 Posts: 1,766 Med/ Caribbean	Metals and plastic recycling plants require immense machinery, unbelievable supply of fresh water, and are appropriate for lots of volume. You don't want that on your island. Sorting and shipping facilities are definitely more approachable for these tiny communities. Now, getting the waste sent elsewhere is another story The number one approach would be reusable water containers and a ban on individual plastic bottles. Getting the locals off of the takeaway container lunch habit would be a pretty good idea as well.
