Hello, We are looking to purchase owner's time instead of going through a charter company. Is a contract standard for such a transaction? Any helpful advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I kept my boat at TMM for many years and sold time on many occasions, mostly to people on TTOL. I always handled all the paperwork, provided the standard TMM contract and all the contact with the client was my responsibility. I kept TMM fully informed before the charter but once the clients arrived at the dock, TMM then treated them exactly the same as if the client had dealt directly with them all the way through.
I believe this is the way it works with all the charter companies other than Moorings/Sunsail.

We once purchased owner's time from a Mooring's owner. Moorings handled all the paperwork and arrangements. Only difference was we sent the payment directly to the owner. No difference in service at their base or on the water.

Thanks. Looking at one now. It's a lot of money to commit so it's a bit nerve wracking developing the trust. I'm currently working with a lady representing an owner.

I would expect some one to do a "background" check on me before sending downpayment. Possibly in same profession as the charterer... I certainly could provide reference vouching for me as reputable....CPA, Attorney, banker, realtor, medical staff office (I am a surgeon), etc.
My charter company (TMM) wants a contract signed by you and will have a booking number assigned to you.
If you are not feeling comfortable in process, investigate further. If person you are discussing with is resistant to providing references, then you really should look elsewhere.

You can find people through TTOL that own boats and sell owner's time. Username Deepcut (see earlier post in this thread) does it. You could send a Private Message on TTOL. There may be others. Alternatively you can go to Sail Online at this link http://www.sailonline.com/discountcharters/browse-the-database and find many boats. I used to advertise on that site very successfully.

Chance, we have a brand new 2020 Lagoon 46 coming in to TMM in Mar 2020. We're not going to be trying to fill a large number of owners weeks but there will be a few next year. Let me know if you have any questions.

From what I was told, if you chartered from TMM in the past, you can not buy owners time for a boat that is their fleet.
