For those of you who are really familiar with JFK, approx. how long does it take to get from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2? Flying Delta in a few days, and it appears that our flight from SYR arrives at Term. 4, and departs to SXM from Terminal 2. I'm carrying around a bum hip which does not give me the luxury of sprinting, and a little concerned our one hour layover may not be enough. Thanks!!!

One checked each, one carry on each. Will only be dragging the carry on. The checked luggage gets transferred to the plane.

I knew that, just curious if we have enough time between flights. We've always flown Jet Blue, which arrives and departs in the same terminal.

I fly Delta's morning nonstop from JFK to SXM quite often (once or twice a month) and the flight always leaves from Terminal 4. You may want to check your departure gate. I have a feeling you may not need to get yourselves over to Terminal 2 after all.

boucharda, that's when I became concerned when I checked out the flight on line this AM. I was checking to see if they have a pattern of taking off on time.
We have about 1 1/4 hours between flights. That's assuming that the SYR to JFK flight lands on time. In March, anything leaving from SYR first thing in the morning is a crap shoot!

I think that with no bag retrieval and no additional security checks a hop on the AirTrain will get you there in plenty of time...and...they know you are making the connection (same airline) so they will usually hang on if you are late.
Weather can mess up ANY connection but with present known info I think you will do fine

I agree the Delta SXM flight always leaves from terminal 4 but there might still be gate changes because we had a bit of snow here. We have logged entirely 2 many miles out of JFK to be surprised by anything. Get the Delta app for your phone and stay on top of any changes. Either way in or out of terminal 2/4 Delta provides a shuttle between terminal 2 & 4 so it will be much easier for you to make your connection. Any gate agent should be able to direct you to the shuttle.

Thank you so much for that info. I always wondered what those souped up golf carts were used for! That just may help. I don't really have the need for a wheelchair, quite yet.! That time will come when I hit 60!! I have the Delta app already. Will keep an eye out. Too much snow! Try living in upstate NY!!
Sorry, forgot you live here!!!

LOL ---I spend quite a bit of time in Syracuse for business but I just make the 5 1/2 drive north instead of flying. The shuttle is actually a bus between terminals so it is very convenient; also if you were to leave term 2 and go to term 4 any other way you would need to go through security again, so look for the shuttle bus. Safe travels
PS Joey's near Carrier Circle is one of my favorite upstate restaurants.
