Heading down in a few weeks for trip #8-10. Don't remember.
We have always stayed at one of the condos in Mont Vernon but are staying at Esmeralda this trip. Looking for some input on the hotel and clientele.
For those who have stayed there, what are your thoughts on the hotel?
With regard to the guests - are they mainly French, Canadian, US? Spring Break crowd (young) or more quiet ?
We are looking for some serious sand gravity beach/pool time.
Any advise or observations are appreciated.

Haven't heard any input recently but about year and half age someone said the rooms smelled musty.

I have not been inside one of the units there for a long time, so can't give any current info. In general, I assume that you know that basically there are almost no units there that have ocean view. Also, the pools there within each building often get quite a bit of nude use, PROVIDED the other folks in the building have no problem with it. So, depending on whether that's a good thing or a bad thing for you, that is a bit of info anyway.

There are a number of posts...too many to list. If you go to the bottom of the page and where it says 'Search forum' fill in "Esmeralda" (in quotes) and change the dates to 'from all dates' you'll see a number of posts from the last few years. This will give you some insight. Have a great vacation!

We stayed there over New Years (villa was rented). It is o.k., but fairly basic. Croud was a little more noisy than at other times of the year.

We stayed at Esmeralda many times in the past but after numerous problems and issues with rooms, beach use and hotel management us and all of out friends left and went to Club O. No problems and issues there. Good luck!

We have stayed at Esmeralda 5 times beginning in 2000, including last year in June. We have never had a problem with a room. The crowd is usually a mix of U.S. and Europeans, with a few Canadians. Not many very young people, and few children. The beach is quiet because most cruise people gravitate to the middle of the beach and the Club O end. The Astrolabe is one of the best restaurants on the island, but we always walk the beach early and have breakfast other than the continental breakfast that is included with the room. Aw man, this has me thinking of the croissants at Yellow Sub and the ribs at Pedro's.

We have been to Esmeralda several times, as recently as this past November. Never had any issues with the room. Really like coming up from the beach in late afternoon and spending time at the pool. Sometimes there are others, and sometimes we have the pool to ourselves.
