We are beginning a week long bareboat charter out of Road Town this Saturday. Does anyone know if there are any options to rent a large Yeti type cooler for the week? Thanks in advance for any help.

Most of the charter companies supply a medium/large cooler (Coleman type) with the charter. If you ask nicely, they may offer you a second one.

I doubt if you will find a "Yeti Type" cooler for rent.
Some boats have them . Sea Tiger in TMM fleet has one, some other owners as well.
Next best is put a couple large ice blocks in cooler with additional Bag Ice...

Don't bother. You won't need it unless you are not eating any meals on shore. Most people make a mistake by putting too much at a time in a cooler. Only chill what you may need for that day. Particularly beverages.
Put a couple of liters of water in the freezer overnight to make your own block ice. Use that in the cooler the next day. Keep recycling.

Someone needs to create a secondary market for Yeti coolers down there. We could bring them as luggage, and sell them when we leave. Then, they could be rented on island.
I'm guessing there's too much money being made on ice
But then there's the theft issue...
It sure would be nice to have ice last longer than a couple hours, though!

It sure would be nice to have ice last longer than a couple hours, though! After our last trip, my wife was saying how she wished you could pay to upgrade your cooler to something like a Yeti. Heck, a Coleman Extreme would be nice. There are non-Yeti coolers that will keep ice for several days at a time.

Yes, our fridge/freezer unit sucked, the ice in the provided cheapo lasted about 2 hours, we had 6 people hitting the cocktails fairly hard, and I got REAL tired of making ice runs. We *did* at least have our soft sided Yeti bag with us. I use it as my carryon bag. It's nice to take to the beach (as long as you have someone in the group that will stay parked to babysit the cooler) There's always one. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Laugh.gif" alt="" />

In a charter situation a Yeti cooler will go missing as will extra fenders and kayaks.,, it's a question of when...not if. A good thing is to take some insulated bags ..as many have suggested ..polar bears are great for luggage ..keep as well and a quarter the price of yeti soft sides.. Get blocks of ice from charter company initially alng with a bag of cubes..get a block anytime you can find one.. Go to SAMS and get those yeti tumbler stainless look a likes for each crew member..label identity and enjoy ice cubes in drinks that last for hours rather than minutes in a solo cup .
