My son got married on the island this past November. It was amazing!!! He had it at La Semanna on the French side. The guest stayed at Simpson Bay….because we are owners there. They got paperwork from home, USA And someone on the island, a minister, married them and it was legal. They took the paperwork to our town hall to make sure and yes it was legal…Good luck and have fun!!!!
Our daughter was married in St. Maarten almost two years ago. We found it was too costly and too much paper work to do it legally. She got married at home a few days before she flew down. She had a beautiful ceremony and reception on the beach and calls Feb. 22 her anniversary. Some of the 35 guests know it wasn't legal and some don't. It didn't matter to her so it shouldn't matter to anyone else. I don't know how funsue's son did it but it sounds to good to be true. I would ask her for details because if you could do it like that it would be great.
