Harbor Queen had good ribs. Can't remember if it's still open or not. Someone said it was closed and someone else said it was still open??? Also check out Captain D's, if it's still there. Right by the new parking lot beside Royal Palm. Ribs and chicken, etc., etc., carryout. Good stuff, huge portions for a good price!

The only place I ever eat ribs, on the island or off, is The Palms.

If you don't mind driving just a little, Mark's Place has decent ribs and served from a "snack" portion to "all you can eat".

My favorite ribs are at Jimbo's. A whole rack, great flavor, fries, coleslaw, and corn bread all for a reasonable price. My son in law's favorite is Buccaneer Beach Bar but they are dry rubbed and I don't care for them.

I have had ribs in a few places along the Simpson Bay strip, but none as good as The Palms. I have yet to try the stand that is close to Royal Palm, wanted to but never did end up trying them.
I prefer the Isle seat

BBB has reasonable ribs...and $2 Carib 5-7p (just came back from there). We were going to go to Lee's but monsoons stopped us short....impressive H2O right now

Best ribs we have had are Harbor Queen and the sides that come with it are delicious. A great value for the price they charge. We are currently in St. Martin & Harbor Queen is open. We use to go to Lee's. Cannot have a conversation there. Music is way to loud.

But Lee's ribs are the best. We usually have claud seat us on the lagoon side. Much more quite there.

I like Capt.D's ribs as they are might fine. He is located on the new cement parking lot between Toppers and the Royal Palm....

I think someone mentioned french fries at Lee's and feeding the leftovers to the tarpon that hang around there.
Personally, not a fan of Lee's ribs or the cooking method used there.

Ribs and chicken at Capt'n D's are very good. When they first opened they made whole fish with vegetables tat was very good also.

Capt D's is the best so far this year and Ive been to all the places mentioned on this thread. Its an amazing story. A few years ago it was a small grill with some beer for sale. Last year it got a little bigger and now there are chairs and tables and music.Prices are still very reasonable.

I wonder if the person has a lease/rent agreement for that area or if he is just expanding on his own?

A couple of years ago the owner was complaining that he set out some picnic tables. And very quickly had to remove them. So somebody is watching. The way the conversation went led me to believe that he only had a permit to sell to go and the picnic tables needed an eat in license. But being SXM having a business license bases on a true occupancy could leave a lot of room legal debate.

Last summer there was one picnic table there, but did not give it any thought about it being a set down organized type of thing. Again it was only one table and seemed at the time to be used by people having a drink and waiting for their food to be finished.

Sounds like a carry-out, grab a bottle or three of wine, and head back to one or the other of our balconies to catch the sunset before dinner. Your balcony is bigger if I recall correctly.

Yes the paved side is in use now for the rib place with about 4 picnic tables and parked cars. There is still a big section that isn't paved.

OK. I saw that there is still an issue with the watersports place there, so I guess that's why the parking lot still isn't finished. 4 picnic tables is a lot more than they used to have..

I saw somewhere that the government was trying to evict them. I don't remember now where I saw that.

The owner (?) had something going on facebook to garner support for his business being in that location. He had a rather lengthy video from what I recall and was ragging on the SXM government since he was a citizen. I have no idea if there are permits involved, etc. but to throw a grill in a vacant/unused lot and then expand with tables should raise some questions.

And if that's what he did, I can't help but agree. But do you know that's what he did?

I stated that I had no idea what he did or if there were permits involved with regards to the grill and tables. I did find his rant from facebook. Not sure exactly which you are referring to.
In a way it reminds me of Lee's years ago. Very small place with a bar and a few tables. Look at that situation now and what he is facing.

IMO it's Lee's and Capt. D"s, both wonderful. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

In January of this year we went to Harbour Queen,,I had ribs,,rest had fish and chips...."all" the food was poor...didn't go back....honestly, I like good food and am not picky really but the service was good,,people friendly, everything but the food was great.

SXMScubaman said: I tried those drunken ribs. Wasn't impressed. Never personally tried them but the one time I asked about them I believe the owner said they were spare ribs versus baby back ribs? Anyone know for sure on the actual type of rib for the drunken ribs at The Palms?

Where is the 'new' Harry's located? He used to serve an incredible grilled lobster! Wondering if his new place does the same kind of dinners, if anyone knows........info would be appreciated,...

Pat-see this thread as to the location. Don't know about the lobster question. Would be interested in hearing that answer also.

Pat -- it's only a few doors from Unity car rental on opposite side of street.
I hope that helps. We drove by once in November but it wasn't open.
