We fly Jet Blue (Direct-Boston-Sxm)every year in Jan, this year Jan 28-Feb 11 and when I went to book this year the price was $1,300.00 per ticket on our direct flight. Needless to say we decided to fly American(1 stop each way with a 3 hour layover in New York coming home)for $550.00 per ticket. I just checked Jet Blue for the hell of it and the price dropped to $379.00 DIRECT both ways per ticket. Luckily American refunded our entire cost due to cancelling our original reservation. So I booked Jet Blue using our points (41,000 + $149.00 TOTAL) for BOTH TICKETS. So now we get to fly direct and CHEAP. Pays to check often.

I just opened another two day sale event email from JB with valid flight dates through early March. I'm all set for both up-coming trips but perhaps someone else might benefit from the sale.
Respectfully,

Just wonder why flights were $1,300.00 back in October and now so so cheap. I know they want to fill the plane but just not fair for those that booked at such a high rate and never checked back in to get the lower fare. Lucky us and good advise, keep on checking!!!!!!!

Jet Blue (and Southwest??) is just about the only one where it makes any difference. Virtually all other airlines, once you buy the ticket and 24 hours has passed, don't look again!! If the price goes down, you WON'T get any money back or any credit, so it will just tick you off!! The only exception would be that if the airline makes a 'significant' change to your flights, then you are entitled to cancel your reservation and get ALL your money back. Now, the definition of a 'significant' change can vary, but if you do have a change and find lower fares for your flight, you can call the airlines and see what they say. Otherwise, as I said, book and don't ever look back, as it will generally just make you mad!!

Unless you consistently travel from the East coast, NOTHING about air travel is "fair" for most travelers.
