Hi all. We will be sailing in the BVI in early May. Not exactly sure how busy it will be. Can anyone suggest some great snorkelling sites with lots of fish to see. Thanks in advance.

I would say almost everywhere.
Indians,
caves at Norman,
cooper island at the north end up to the rocks and around cistern point to the south.
Eustatcia sound,
Probably the inside of Calhoun reef in north sound.

I could keep going, let's get some others to add to the list.

Warren S/V Scuba Doo
Lagoon 50 (winner of best crewed yacht under 55 feet at the St. Thomas crewed yacht boat show).

When I have timid or insecure folks on board the south and east side of Great Harbour Peter isn’t bad.

The Indians, the Dogs, the shore of the Bight to the right of Pirates, Monkey Point on Guana, the south shore of Little JVD, Loblolly Bay on Anegada, when the swell is down. The left side of White Bay can be good, especially if you want to kill some Lionfish.

If you find yourself on Virgin Gorda with a rental car I would suggest Savannah(sp) Bay. Great reefs and not real deep water and all kinds of colorful fish. We also park at Nail Bay Resort and walk down the nearby Mountain Trunk Bay road, which has a blocked off no car narrow road, but only a short walk, to Mtn. Trunk Bay. If you look to your right you will see coral heads sticking up out of the water. Swim there and see some fantastic colorful reef and lot's of fish. If you swim straight out is is meh, just sand. So, two of our fav's...but, don't go to Savannah on a Sunday. It is the local's day off and the crowd is huge. BBQ grills, beer cooler's, loud music from boom boxes...on a Tuesday or Thursday you just might have the whole beach to yourself...

Snorkeling with a swim noodle can help a timid or new snorkeler.

If you don't want to kill the lion fish yourself (do not touch) call any of the dive companies with a description of where the fish is. They will deal with them on their next visit to that area.

Spear guns and Hawaiian slings are strictly prohibited for visitors, as far as I know only dive shops can go on Lion Fish killings.

We love cistern point which is an easy dinghy ride from the Cooper Island mooring field. Nice dinghy tieup line and great clarity. Also as I'm sure has been mentioned, the caves around the corner from the bight on Norman.

Some of the best snorkeling is not even in typical snorkel spots. Here's a turtle we saw while swimming from the boat to cistern point - we've seen lots of great stuff making this swim.

Agree! I think we saw the same turtle in the same spot while doing the same swim in May 2015.
