Maybe a Smart TV would be interesing, do not know. If you do not have internet access then it makes no difference!
Ok, have some internet, but you do not want to know and... not pretty here at the house! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" /> That is what you get living out in the middle of no where! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
Ok, get an ORANGE TRUCK to run over the old analog verizon/frontier box and we get a digital box, then maybe we can get into the new world!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> The other thought is fire ants and honey on that box....... maybe???? The thought of the technicians and fire ants... ok! replace the box, but then again they just might spray it??? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
Until then............
The best option is the Orange Truck.... That could do some damage and then a fix!!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" /> Problem is that it is at a stop sign...... minor detail for the orange truck!! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Eric, if you figure it out, let me know. We have no option but a Verizon MiFi here, and it's not only slow, it's also expensive.

Eric, Who is your TV provider? Cell? Yes we have internet. I have a wifi router in my condo and run everything wifi/Bluetooth/whatev. I know ATT is trying to get everyone on VoIP. I'm stuck without long distance on our land line because they wont give it. Had huge fight to get our landline back. You don't have ATT service in Snowland or whatever your town is called? Cheers irina

TV provider is Direct TV. We have cell service here and Direct TV and Dish and satellite internet, that's it. In town and half a mile away from our house, both ways, there is real wired phone service and cable, etc. We're on an old line that needs to be replaced and Verizon and now Frontier is too freaking cheap to replace the line. It will only be replaced when it gets damaged by a storm or, as ERic said, an orange truck running into it...

So if you have Direct TV why can't you get ATT Uverse for internet? They don't want to service land lines. I'm telling you it took me months and fights with ATT to get my land line back only because I asked to add long distance to it. They switched me to VoIP and we already had Vonage from SXM. Amazing. Ok. Then stick with the truck I guess. I can't imaging not having Internet access on TV. Even hooked up my laptop to the old tv to go online with it. Cheers irina

Sorry, which is what? We can get cell phone internet service, or through satellite, nothing wired. ATT doesn't work real well around here, in general. Verizon works the best, out here in the boonies...

No land line? So no DSL. We had that for a while with ATT. Then we switched to independent isp. I understand now. I think. LOL maybe not. irina

We're in the exact same situation here, Carol. We use Verizon Mifi for our internet, and it's stupidly expensive for limited data. For TV we have satellite; Netflix and any kind of streaming are impossible. Cable is less than a mile away, but they won't bring it here.

Same here both dsl and comcast less than a mile and neither is going to happen. We dropped the landline a couple of years ago. Local calls only and the cost was more than twice what we are paying now and have unlimited nationwide calling.
Even verizon, now frontier, initially thinks we can get dsl. But then they find out about the old box that everything on this road is wired thru and nope you cannot get anything! Some even around here contacted comcast to say if we get xx number of people would they bring cable? Answer has always been NO.
