Do I need to pre-arrange a taxi to get to our hotel or are they taxi's waiting to take fairs? We land around 3:30 PM and our hotel is only a 5 minute drive.

There will be plenty of taxis waiting as you exit the terminal.

Enjoy grenada. I enjoyed every minute of grenada last month. Taxis are easy to find and reasonable.
If its not to l7ate and you have room...consider packforapurpose.org. so many people in need of lifes basics such as toothpaste and first aid ointments. You drop off your products at designated hotels. Its easy!
Once you settle in:
We used kennys day tour for a private island tour extraordinaire. We found him thru kalinago front desk on morne rouge beach. You are his only guests for the day in his comfy suv.
Also...re those lovely spice necklaces. Mine went mouldy in my suitcase before i left grenada. Be sure to keep them in the open.
Lots to see, smell and do. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/xmas032.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/xmas032.gif" alt="" />

Thank you both! I will look into packforapurpose.org. We have been to the BVIs 21 times, looking forward to exploring a new country.
Another question, should we exchange our money, or just use US dollars?

There is no need to exchange to ec from usd. Though with every island their conversion factor/math is suspect so i prefer local currency...but then again im canadian so i have double fees/pain no matter the currency option.
Read on for travel tips:
At grand anse beach check out the vendors market. Haggle some. Tell the ladies ur not on cruise ship.
Beers are 2usd some places. Mixed drinks costly. Umbrellas has suppertime happy hr week nights. Great food for good prices.
My favourite sunset restaurant is sangrias in morne rouge. You will enjoy eating out for very reasonable cost. Fresh.
Morne rouge beach is quiet and much nicer than grand anse...from bvi u will be disappointed in g anse beach but it is a beach...not snow afterall.
Busses are plentiful and liberal. Ours bought ahum stuff with our fare on the side of the road and started rolling. 1ec for ciggy n white paper plus 20ft down the road we waited for a 5ec baggy. (We did not promote or ask...it just happened)
grenada is safe and friendly.
Visit up north for a real sense of pride. I loved their rock paintings etc.
olympian Kirani james is from grenada.
Sorry for the promo...so wish i could have stayed longer.
Then theres carriacou and petite martinique. Ahhhh. Enjoy enjoy enjoy!
Ps. We visited the orphanage near airport as our selected packforapurpose recipient. Broke my heart.
Ps check out grenadas microbrewery near roundabout on your way to g anse beach. Great vibe. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Spook.gif" alt="" />

Thank you so much' I appreciate all the information. We are staying on Magazine Beach, plan on renting a car one day, taking the ferry to Carriacou one day and taking a island tour with Cuddys taxi one day. Not sure what the other days will bring.

Happy new year.
We were in carriacou last month and..
If u take a taxi tour in carriacou b discrimate re ur driver. We haggled the price down from 120usd i think. Our tour guide promised botanical gardens etc. Turns out he pointed to a small parched patch of colour as we drove by. We had one photo op at hospital on hill. Later we crawled out of van for 2nd and last leg stretch when he dropped us off at beach across from sandy island where we listened to construction pounding.
Imho an island tour isnt all that interesting in carriacou but then again... lol

If you do get to Carriacou. Don't miss Paradise Beach. Off the Hook is a great beach bar. Our day on Carriacou was one of our favorited days

We had a wonderful dinner at The Aquarium on Magazine Beach many years ago. Their reviews still look good. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Thumbsup.gif" alt="" /> Also Patrick's in town for Grenadian treats...

We plan on going to the Aquarium for the Sunday BBQ
A friend of ours is the captain of a 90' sailing yacht and will be in Grenada at the same time we will be there. We plan on meeting up with him, he said we can go sailing. Can't wait!
