What's the fee to get into the lounge?

I ask because I just got a discount offer for a 1 year pass to airport lounges and SXM is on the list so I wonder if it's worth $69 or if I can just buy SXM.

I believe it is $20 per person. You do not need any kind of membership to use the lounge. There are some cards that do allow entry for free for one person.

We used it last Spring and it was definitely $20.00 pp and well worth it if your wait was a long one. Not so much, IMHO, if your wait is less than an hour. At least the chairs are comfortable and the atmosphere is pleasant and the restrooms are always clean. The drinks and snacks don't hurt either.

Respectfully,

pat

I wouldn't pay for it, but it comes with my credit card (Chase Reserve) so figured why not.

As Pat said it's worth it if you have a longish wait. The WIFI is much better than in the regular terminal and it's generally cooler and quieter in there. I use it every time because I like to get to the airport early.

$20 is about the cost for two glasses of wine in the terminal, plus you get snacks, like chicken wings, etc. To me, if you're planning on getting anything to eat or drink at the terminal, it's worth it.

Thank you. Since SXM is where we'd fly and want to use the lounge ,that other offer isn't worth it. You've been very helpful.

No you have to go out to the smoking lounge, but free re-entry.

Just out of curiosity and maybe OT just a bit, but where did you find the $69 offer?

Last time I was in there I read a pamphlet that said for a fee (not cheap) you could have access to a number of lounges around the world. But then I read that you would still have to pay $27 to access the SXM lounge. Didn't make sense to me when you can get in for $20.

RicknGrace I received email from travelzoo.com. It's a website that offers discounts for lots of things, trips, concerts, hotels, restaurants, cruises. If you register they send out a weekly "Top 20" deals.

We received with our credit card a membership to "Priority Pass", and it gave us access to the lounge with no extra charges. Plus access to several other lounges around the world. Not sure if it's a stand alone membership where you can just buy it or not. But could be worth looking into. If it wasn't included with my credit card benefits I probably wouldn't pay but If you travel enough it could be worth it. Priority Pass

We also have a card that has access to lounges all over the world at various airports. It does include SXM. Have used it a few times, not sure I would pay for a membership unless you travel enough to make it worthwhile.

The ones generally with the card are for the cardholder only and a set fee for the second person. Depending on the lounge it can be a good discount, but not for SXM as it is actually more than if you pay directly for the second person.

Why wouldn't you just go in separately? Carol is free; you pay the $20.

I had the card, we showed the desk the credit card that gave the membership and we each had one, they let us both in no extra charge.

That's what we did, except Eric is the one who has the card--an old timer Diner's card, which I don't have. We paid $20 for me to get in.

Maybe next time I'll just take out all my cards and see if one gets me in free.

Check out your benefits from the card, it should tell you.

We have only one (1) card that prvides the lounge benefits as part of the card. It is a card that I have had for a long time!! Used it when I was traveling for work all over the US, although that was s long time ago. But it gives me some benefits that I cannot get otherwise, so still keeping it for the time now.

Exactly.

The Soualiga Lounge is part of the Priority Pass network of lounges. Check to see if Priority Pass is a benefit of your card. It is if you still have a grandfathered Diners Club (they no longer accept new individual accounts), Amex Platinum, and some other cards. A Priority Pass membership card is typically issued to the primary cardholder, and does not have free guest privileges. If there is an additional cardholder on the account then some card companies will also arrange to have a Priority Pass card issued to the additional cardholder - ask!
