Exchange rate will depend upon the currency you are using The casino deals in USD. You may withdraw USD from your checking account using the ATM. Expect a service charge.

Bobcat--Do you know whether that information is up to date and correct? The reason why I ask is that the url for TTOL at the bottom of that page doesn't work. And for the other two boards listed there, one is a closed board, and the other one seems to have had no posts since 2012..

There is an ATM in Hope Estate at credit mutuel that gives U.S. dollars. The ATM further along in Hope Estate does not give U.S. dollars.

Chairs were $20 at Kakao yesterday, but Karl usually goes up to $25 sometime in December.

Never known casinos to give 1:1. They charge slighty above current exchange rate, probably $1.07 for 1 Euro.
Euro had a strong day today closing at $1.08. Casinos will be at least $1.085.

If you mean "Petit Casino", the small grocery store in orient, they were treating Euros same as dollars last Feb. Given that the exchange rate is still close, I would guess nothing has changed. Having a fistful of dollars back when the exchange rate was 1.3 to 1 or so, and paying in cash was a significant savings over a vacation, but now that they are close, not so much. Still, for all everyday purchases, having dollars at hand is easier.

There is a chain of French grocery stores called Casino. Petite Casino is the name which they use for their smaller stores.

Yup...knew that but never connected it. Being a frequenter of the other "casino" place that was what I translated it to.. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

I didn't get it either. I almost responded that there are no casinos on the French side...

If you ever eat in, check out the rotisserie chickens they make at Yellow Sub.. You might think they're pricey, but damned good! Reserve one in the morning with them (when you buy your morning pastries or bread), then pick it up for lunch or dinner at the time you told them. They'll ask you if you want potatoes with the chicken. Say Yes! The potatoes sit under the dripping chickens all morning and they are delicious!
