A healthy dose of a good amber rum such as Mt Gay poured over rocks in a tall glass, top off with tonic and a half lime squeezed. Not only simple and delicious but medicinal as well, prevents scurvy, malaria and frowns.

Anyone have any good recipes for "girly" drinks? Something with pineapple juice or strawberrys, etc?? I am not a straight rum kinda girl.. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

I love the line from a Kenny Chesney song "...I told the bartender, mix rum in whatever you've got..." Funny thing is--it works! Try 1 part rum, 1 part coconut rum. 1 part OJ the 2 parts of V8 splash tropical punch Another one I enjoy is 1 part rum, 1 part vodka, 1 part pineapple juice and mango juice. For a party try just buying an assortment of juices (OJ, pineapple, mango, cranberry...) flavored rums (cruzan has some great ones), dark rum, light rum, cream of coconut and fresh nutmeg to grate and just let everyone experiment.

Contessa posted something like this sometime back... I make my own version and it is almost as good
Frozen Watermelon (no seeds) white rum to taste crushed ice Frozen Mango
blend at high speed and drink slowly because if you drink this too fast you will get wicked head freeze and your head will fall off

Here is the most popular drink at my bar: Rum Jumbie (the cocktail)
2 parts Orange Juice (better if Orange Tangerine) 1 part Pineapple Juice 1 part Rum, (preferred Cruzan 120 but can not get any longer, so I mix 80 & 151 proof rum. 1 lime slice squeezed in.
Mix in a glass with ice, then add 1 part or a bit more of Tonic and then a quick light mix.

My favorite Rum Cocktail- (Note I am usually a rum on the rocks drinker but this is a very nice cocktail)
Hemingway Daiquiri
1 1/2 oz light rum 3/4 oz of fresh lime juice 1/4 oz of grapefruit juice 1/4 oz of cherry juice/liqueur (I make my own infused cherries and use this liqueur)
Contents into a cocktail shaker with ice, shake until you can tell the ice is breaking down and the shaker becomes chilled.
Strain and serve, garnish with a cherry.
Cheers, T

Trying my best to duplicate the Stanley's Special, but it never tastes as good without the view.
3/4 c. coconut rum 3/4 c. combo of golden rum and Myer's 1 c. orange juice 1 c. pineapple juice juice of one lime
Blend and pour over ice. Garnish with slice of lime or orange and a cherry if you want to get fancy.

Planter’s Punch
2 oz light rum 2 oz orange juice 2 oz pineapple juice Dash of Grenadine Float dark rum over the top
Garnish with orange slice and a maraschino cherry. I like drinking the cherry once it has soaked up some alcohol.
