I haven't even been to LaPlaya since Bruno took it over, but my vote would be for LaPLaya. And I am a pretty big fan of Kakao.

We spent Friday at La Playa, and Saturday at Kakao. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite from those two days, as both had fresh fish that was fantastic. The ambiance at La Playa is a bit more upscale. If you can do both, you should.

Was going to go to Pinel, but too late now...Ricardo at Temptation kept me singing too late...but what fun, after the great French chard and dinner at Escape...highly recommend and thank you TTOL for the tip!

Bruno will not be catering to the ships. I would think that the beachfronts that have "deals" with the cruise ships would be crowded like Waikiki and Bikini.

You are correct Louise. We spent the day at La Playa, and it wasn't overly crowded at all. We also walked the length of the beach, and didn't find any area to be especially overcrowded. The most congested area was between Pedros and Kon Tiki, where the chairs are set up pretty much touching each other.
Back to the original question, as much as Kakao has always been our favorite spot on Orient, we now have a new favorite, and it's La Playa. Bruno just knows how to do things right.

Yup, couldn't agree more. Bruno knows what he's doing! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />
