We are two couples looking at one of these two boats out of SXM next year.

I've done some research on the boats and it seems both have their pros and cons. The Catana's major con seems to be that the helms (dual) are located at the rear and open to the elements. However, when I look at the Lipari, it seems the helm is also open unless the specific boat has a dodger and/or bimini over the cockpit. Likewise, the Lipari looks like if you had an accidental gybe you could take your head off.

Has anyone had experience with either of these two boats (or even a different size)? What did you like or dislike about them?

Thanks

I've chartered a Lipari 41 from CYOA twice.
It had canvass bimini for the helm station.
The main was high enough not to hit it or the helmsman.
It was not all that fast a boat, and also was sparse on storage, but on the plus side the 41-4 could sleep 8 pretty comfortably.
