Has anyone stayed at Sapphire Beach Club in the last month or so? I did a search of this site and couldn't find any up to date info so if anyone can give us their opinion of the property as it stands right now we'd be very grateful. We are planning a holiday there in early 2017 and RCI is suggesting it for us.

We understand the hot tubs aren't working on the balconies but that's no big deal for us. Are the rooms okay? Rundown? How are the pool and grounds?

I would not consider staying there as most of the recent reviews are still not favorable. Apparently some renovations have been completed and RCI just recently accepted the resort for exchange again pending the remainder of the problems being rectified. One couple who stayed there recently had to check out and find another place on their own and pay extra for their stay because conditions were so bad in the unit they were assigned. They asked for another unit there and we're told none available. Also ownership of the resort is still being disputed in the court. There are much better places to stay on the island. I know we would not consider staying there again until a lot of the current problems are resolved.

Elizabeth--I was surprised when she said that RCI was doing bookings there again. Don't think I would take the chance either.

Haven't been to sapphire ina a long time...would NOT go back there even if it was given to me for free. Anywhere else is a better choice.

My friends recently used one of my weeks there, I had given them a choice of 2 and they wanted to be nearer the Simpson Bay area. They said their room was not one of the renovated rooms but they did see one they were working on and it was really nice. The pool was fine, the bar was not open but they did always close it until Nov. They did see where if was once a lovely resort and knew from me telling them there was a big downturn! They enjoyed themselves just using it as a base to do other things.
