I usually travel to SXM in June and never make restaurant reservations. How necessary are they in November?

Mario's Bistro is one place you would need reservations in November.

We have never made reservations in November unless dining with a large group or wanting to reserve a special table on the water.

We have 15 straight years of being on the island and have never once made a reservation for a meal. I think the beauty of the island is that if restaurant "A" is busy when we show up for dinner than we can turn right or left and walk next door and still have an enjoyable meal.

We generally don't make reservations unless it's a special evening where it's important that we dine at a particular place, or if we're with a larger group.

This is our first time here in November. Always have made reservations during February and March. We made dinner reservations one night here in the past week, and really didn't need to. We've been able to walk right in and get a great table everywhere we've gone. Island is very quiet!

Before '88 or so we used to ride around and make dinner reservations because many (most?) places didn't have phones and if no one 'signed up' they often didn't open at all.
But since then, I have made a total of three dinner reservations: Easter Sunday one year when we were a family of eleven; one evening a few years ago when we wanted to take a Granddaughter to a special but small place; and lastly, we made a dinner reservation at Mario's Bistro right after they moved and reopened at Porto Cupecoy and we wanted a specific table. That's it for all those trips and all those years and we've never had a problem.
Unless you're a large group, it's a major holiday or you're a particularly large group, I don't personally feel it will be necessary to make reservations, but that's purely a personal opinion. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

You are generally with a crowd of 8 to 15 people in March also! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />
