A while back there was a thread on these masks. Now that they have been around a while I am wondering if the reports are still positive. I am considering getting a one for my trips next year and would like some advise and input as to fit, sizing etc. I have a rather small face and have a hard time fitting a regular mask so it won't leak.

the stem is too short, I need to clear when submerging, and they are too expensive

Love them, wife loves them, grandkids love them, daughter loves them, son-in-law loves them........

Definitely not the type of mask for submerging. Not to say one couldn't but the design doesn't allow for it.

We have two of theses (triboard brand) and love them. It's a completely different type of mask compared to the traditional style - apples and oranges.

There is nothing i don't like about it. My son would say he misses being able to dive down but he has yet to use his former mask since we got this style.

Why I like it:

Far greater field of vision
Zero fogging or leakage. (Not that I ever had big problems with this before, this style just eliminates any issues)
Comfortable fit, contact between mask to skin is spread out over a larger area
No pulling on my hair

A con would be as mentioned above, these are not masked for anyone who like to dive down.

It took me a bit to get used to it after 25+ years of using a traditional mask and snorkel. It was an odd sensation to not have a snorkel mouth piece.

My mom is a very avid snorkeller and my step dad is a diver. They are on Cozumel this week and will be trying out my mask. I'll report their thoughts.

Meant to say they will be using it to snorkel, not dive.

We used the Triboard brand mask for the first time last February during a trip to Bora Bora and in a word found them to be fantastic. My spouse, who always avoided snorkeling with the old style masked just loved the experience. We were so impressed that as soon as we got back to our home in the Caribbean we ordered 6 so we'd have plenty on hand for use by our house guests. They are available in 3 sizes for adults and 1 for children.

true, for surface snorkeling they must be nice. when I snorkel, i like to go down 10-30" and I dive, so it's just not right for me. I can see it's advantages.

I ordered one of these masks today...it will be at my home 10/31 We sail out 11/10 and I will report back on my experience.

I just like to snorkel and don't do any diving so I expect this to be a nice luxury.

I have one and am not overly happy with it. It doesn't fog which is a big plus. However, I don't feel like I get enough air if I am in water with a current and need to exert more energy.-- I prefer my old snorkel and mask to it.

Your complaint makes sense to me. The face mask will contain a mixture of new and old air, hence you are probably getting a little less oxygen and a little more carbon dioxide with every breath. The same problem would occur if you extend a snorkel too much. Hence I would expect that feeling if exerting yourself.

I tried my new Tribord in July and again this month while snorkeling on St. John. On both trips, I traded off between a traditional mask and my Tribord. The Tribord makes my face feel very hot when exerting against a strong current. Breathing hard can create pressure against the face in a short time. Now what I like about the mask. Just slip it over the head without having to adjust straps. I didn't have to worry about the mask fogging up. Nothing in my mouth. Water does not accumulate in the mask. Runs out the bottom.
I rented one first before I ordered mine from Amazon. I should have just ordered one as it was only $60. Rita, I have a small face also. I ordered the s/m. Very good fit.

Both my husband and I have these we love them, The new models have a longer snorkel which is better! We used them in the Caymans Relief from the mouth snorkel wonderful

Reporting back.....my mother loved the Tribord mask, used it daily for hours for snorkeling, both from the beach and on dive boat (off shore) reef trips in choppy water.

I don't think my step dad tried it. According to mom, he doesn't like "new" things

Wife and I and a few others we go with have these and love them. As long as you don't want to do any free diving they are great. One caveat, big beards/facial hair do keep you from getting the best seal so they may leak a bit.
