Although I have yet to find the story online somewhere, the full version of the Daily Herald today carried a story about this. Basically, the story said that there was an administrative hearing in which Pat Turner was asking the court to order the Conservatorie to cease what he called an "unlawful violation of his right of ownership and freedom of entrepreneurship". The Court ruled that the parcel belongs to the Conservatorie, not to Pat, and that his business is therefore illegal and that the evidence to prove violation of his right of ownership was insufficient.

I'm not exactly sure what all of that means, but it doesn't sound good.

this is an ongoing and long slog. they will be there for some time as there is much court fighting to be done. I am more than confident my rear end will be in one of his chairs and eating many excellent lunches in april!

According to a story in today's Daily Herald, Tropical Wave has received a reprieve for this season and will be able to operate through this high season, but there are no guarantees after that, as government is determined to oust them. So, anyone going in the next few months if you are a fan of Tropical Wave, please visit them, as they may not be there the next time you visit.

Pat Is still fighting but it is difficult since he is hospitalized off island. There was a continuance granted on his most recent court date due to his not being able to be there. I have been told that the french side government is also being swayed a bit by visitors complaining so if you want to voice your opinion you can write a letter (email).

Any chance you have an exact email address? Chez Pats/i.e. Tropical Wave has been an institution on that stretch of beach as far back as I can remember and he was the only one who ever maintained it as far as we ever saw. A shame to lose all the good stuff to I wonder what. And who? And why?

I Have mailed the office of tourism expressing my concerns regarding not only this but the confiscation of many of the businesses that made/make St. Martin unique and the possibility i may start looking elsewhere with the continued disregard for what has brought people to the island for years. Below is the office in NY and the office in St. Martin. I am very sure they are trying to do the same thing as they did on orient. Build a non discript cookie cutter building and rent it for more than its worth.
