We were @ Iguana Bar @ Capt Olivers on Saturday for happy hour and were informed by Ali that there was no "2 for 1" happy hour any more!! $5 for a 6oz wine, $4 cocktails, seems that maybe the only "special" is a $2.50 beer. Just a head's up....we go there typically once/week so unhappy to hear this news!!

$4.00 for a cocktail is an issue?? Seems pretty reasonable to me...... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/dine.gif" alt="" />

Me, too. Two Mai Tais in Hawaii ran us thirty dollars with taxes and tip in Honolulu and one can of tonic water on the cruise ship was $3.51 and they weren't even served in real glasses..... But if it matters, the fruit in the Mai Tai was fresh..... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Yikes.gif" alt="" />

And I agree with you, just saying it's not 2 for 1 anymore!! When you are used to a $28 happy hour tab and it's $56...that's quite a big difference!! Would like to see at least a bigger wine glass <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" />

I'm right there with you on those bigger wine glasses! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Wish I could get a glass of wine in the US for $4 a glass.
Why a bigger glass for a inexpensive wine?

Actually, there is a little bar not far from me here in Florida that has (cheap) wine for $3 a glass at happy hour! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" />

Met Alain last year, very nice guy. Is Ali still the bartender?

Made it to Iguana this afternoon while waiting on unit housekeeping. Ali was his usual up-beat smiling self. Mixes a very MEAN <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Hairy.gif" alt="" /> long island ice tea. The view and breeze off the ocean along the dock is so great. Been toasty here.

so as long as it's cheaper than Honolulu, or anywhere else in the world for that matter, it should be considered a good deal and be immune from comments?...does this new standard apply to all prices on SXM also? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I think she was just stating what she paid in Honolulu. It was all about value. I think we all are willing to pay whatever we want if the experience warrants it.

i believe the OP's reason for this thread is to give a heads up that the HH prices have changed at the Iguana Bar (in her case the tab went from $28 to $56)...so what's the point of comments minimizing the value of her information by bringing up prices in other parts of the world?.."context", look it up

Understood, but Pat's comment was a reply to $4.00 cocktails not being out of order. "Out of context" look it up

Wow, you have them using words in quotes. This is turning into a real brawl over your honor. Pass the quacamole and let's watch them go at it. I hope they get in a few more posts before the Quakers shut down the thread. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/jester.gif" alt="" />

Islandboi--a little less heat is needed here. Pat would be the last one to minimize anyone else's comments. It's just a message board...

This is not "just a message board", this is a messaging board about St Maarten and even sometimes about the French side. Bite your tongue and then soothe the discomfort with a glass of wine.

Here at home, 9:17 in the morning is a BIT early for wine! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Grin.gif" alt="" /> Now, I could do with a mimosa, if I wasn't at work. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" />

How much does a mimosa cost at Iguana Bar??? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Devil.gif" alt="" />

Just read this and while I'm a bit surprised at the sniping, have at it!

My comment was meant to imply the value of the drink is in the eye (hand?) of the holder, be it a $4.00 cocktail in SXM or a $15.00 Mai Tai in Honolulu, and nothing more.

If you have a problem with that, c'est la vie! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

No. As I said, Pat is the last one to denigrate anyone's comments here. However, sniping at others is not tolerated.
