97L, possibly soon to be Matthew, is no threat to SXM, but could bring at least tropical storm force winds to several southern Caribbean islands in the next couple of days, including the ABC islands. edited to add--SXM has issued a small craft advisory, however.

It's now a Tropical Storm. Not a threat to SXM, however.

I was surprised that the latest NHC advisory said there would be a couple of inches of rain from Matthew, all the way up to SXM and the US and British Virgin Islands. Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao could get hit fairly hard though. Glad to hear that the island is green again..

lots of the storm winds "trailed" the center and projected out to the north east .. so we got a swipe of the tail of the storm here. Sitting on balcony at Oyster right now watching fairly heavy surf but also sunshine.

We've been to SXM three times so far, and every single time the forecast showed cloudy every day, and even showers, yet the weather was beautiful. There was even a tropical storm that passed trough the evening after we arrived on our second trip there in 2012, but even then, the bad weather only lasted one day and a half, and the rest of the week was spectacular.
