Four of will be staying in an Orient Bay villa for the fifth year in a row for two weeks. We usually go to Club Orient beach most of the days. I have a couple questions:
1.Is the parking at the Club still $5 a day? Do they run you down to the beach if requested on golf carts? We usually bring a cooler and we're getting a bit more challenged on the longer walks.
2. Could you explain what the current configuration of chairs is like? How many rows north near Papagayo? How many south of the Perch?
3. Is the proposed parking lot constructed behind the new Orient Beach shops?
Any update on pictures of new installations?

We arrive Oct 3 <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

1) This time of year, there is no parking fee at Club O. No, there are no golf carts. Never were.
2) Don't know for sure, but not many rows of chairs this whole year.
3) The new parking lot is done, yes. No really recent pictures of the restaurants, but if you search several months back, there are a ton of pictures.

No payment for parking at Club O between May 1st & Nov 1st. The parking lot behind the restaurants on Orient Beach is complete and so are all the restaurants and shops. I can't post pics, but it now looks like they have been there for years. In other words, the places fit in nicely and look great. No golf cart transport from Club O parking lot to beach. It sounds like you would be better off carrying several small coolers rather than a large one. There are at least at least 3 rows of chairs in the space between the Perch & Papaguyos, with narrowing down to 1-2 as you get closer to each. Only 1-2 rows on other side of Perch. Since Club O is closed until Oct 7th, there aren't many chairs set up, but they are available on request.

My understanding is that Club Orient re-opens on Oct. 1st. Their website is accepting reservations beginning with stays on Oct. 1 but not with stays beginning on Sept. 30th.

I emailed Club O last week, stating that we would be on island the week of Oct 8th to 15th and I inquired as to whether the Perch would be open. They wrote back to say that The Perch would be open during the club renovations that were taking place and that they will be open in October, too.

There were golf carts and they couldb be rented by the day - at least this is how it has been...I think it was something like 15 euro a day. I don't know any details, not sure if you must be a guest staying...Sugar Rae used to bring her own license plate...t I don't think they just give you a "ride" down to the beach and back

OK, this must be something available only on the Club O grounds. I haven't seen it there, ever, but we haven't been to the Club O grounds for several years.

I have only seen Club O guests rent Golf carts, but I'd check with the front desk and ask if day visitors can rent them too. You're right, they don't just give you a ride to the beach and back.

Thanks for the advice. Last year we had a complimentary cart ride to the restaurant at night. Perhaps that's where I got the idea.

Cheers to all for the advice... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Clapping.gif" alt="" />

For several years they have sold a 7 day package of chair umbrella rentals for a reduced rate that includes parking, as well. Things change but they still had it last year. I am fuzzy on cost other than I thought it was a good deal.
