I'm curious what a 'business without employees' would be. Restaurants are allowed to stay open on Sundays

I assume it means a small business that the only people there have an ownership interest in the business. I'm guessing this is St. Martin's version of a 'blue law', which applies to some businesses and not others. On the Dutch side, Market Garden has always been open all day on Sundays, or at least for the past several years from my recollection, along with the Maho Market.

Ok little insight into this as it has been explained to me... I believe based on what I have heard... if a supermarket is part of a resort like say eg: Peli deli or the grocery store at OBBR they can have the same hours as the resort ... this is why you see these places open on holidays even Christmas day etc...
My understanding is that the government has official opening hours on the Dutch side based on the category of the business, the official hours that you normally see at Grand marche are the official opening hours for all grocery stores...
The ones that stay open late like market garden etc have to pay extra taxes to the govt to remain open late...
If this is not the case then all convenience stores around every corner will remain open late as you know... On sundays the offcial opening hours on the Dutch side is 9 :00 AM - 2:00 PM... Any stores that open later than this pay the government to remain open ...

Thanks for that info Jeannie. This must affect your business. At least you'll have to re arrange picking up items for delivery.

We have often stopped for a few things at neighborhood stores run by Chinese families. They are true "convenience" stores.
