Another post re: rain for next 2 days prompted me to consider "With a group of friends on a charter sail boat, what to do if expecting fairly steady rain for most of 1-2 days? Not tropical storm/hurricaine but just frequent steady rain. Do you motor/sail on? Mooring with time spent on boat? Or mooring/dockage with time spent ashore?

You can still snorkel. The fish don't know it's raining.

Sail on! Go where ever you want. The sails probably need a good fresh water rinse anyway. Snorkel, dive, etc. you cant get any wetter.

Captmoby: I am with you, however not so sure the "crew "will be.However on a cat with hard Bimini top, I believe they will be out of the direct rain without being totally confined to salon.
I will of course have some light rain gear

Although not optimal, we have proven ourselves waterproof. If it is not your boat, we have found that plan B and C need to have the glass broken.
Scuba is a great option, renting a car to explore is good. Buy a box of hefty bags (raincoats) and make some friends.
Only bummer is if you are cold sensitive, go shopping for some oil-skins/gore-tex.
we had a seven day rain, but we were still happy. there is always plan D.

Any rainy day in paradise is better than a day at home or work. It's actually fun sitting under a bimini watching it pour.

August 2006 TS Chris passed east of the BVI's but what a downpour for a couple of days. We got a room at Saba Rock for the night and had a great time, dinner at Saba Rock and hanging out at the bar the next day. Oh AC and nice showers in the room, nice break (note it was a 14 day trip so plenty of time)

One of our favorite trips it rained the entire time. We met a lot of people at a lot of bars ... including this bag pipe player at WillyT's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGS5R2Iu3d4The snorkeling was *cold*. I was literally goosebumps head to toe during several snorkels. I now always bring my wetsuit top just in case. Stormy

Sail on. Have fun. Spend time with your crew (friends), cook some great meals, drink lots of drinks. Go to bars that have a roof and meet new people. Though it's not ideal for those postcard pictures, you can still have a great time <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Cheers.gif" alt="" />
... DIF all the time...

Make stuff with duct tape. You would be surprised how creative you can be with just a few beers.

We bring rain gear and go sailing. If its too uncomfortable for sailing we make stuff: breakfast, love, lunch, cocktails, love, dinner...
