I am trying to put together a day trip to Anguilla for our next trip in February 2017 (4 adults in our party). I have done a little research through the search function here so I think I have come up with an idea. I just wanted to see what everyone thoughts were so we can make the best out of our time.

Here is what I have come up with so far:
- Thinking about taking the ferry out of Marigot to Anguilla.
- We would then catch taxi from the ferry terminal to Shoal Bay East.
- I know we will need our Passports and cash for the exit fees.

Couple questions/recommendations that I have or am looking for would be:
- Any day of week better than others?
- Any beach bars to avoid, if so why?
- Any beach bars recommendations, if so why?
- Anything to worry about when getting a taxi?

Also here is what we like:
- We like places not over too crowded, some people are fine just not elbow to elbow.
- We enjoy live music, local flavor.
- We enjoy sitting on a beach in chairs under umbrellas.
- We like to have a bar close for refreshments or possible even wait staff (like Yellow Beach on Pinel).

Thanks in advance for your help. Just trying to make the most out of every adventure like always.

Just one person's opinion, but it sounds like you have the most important details nailed.

We've always found Sundays to be the best days for scratch bands but be certain of the departure time of the last ferry because it's easy to get caught up in the moment. And that would really apply to any day of the week.

When you take your taxi to Shoal Bay East (or any other beach you might decide on....) make arrangements with the driver to pick you up and pay them at the time of delivery back to Blowing Point. It might also be a good idea to get a cell phone number jic you decide to change your plans.

We haven't been back to AXA for a while, but we always enjoyed Gwenns Reggae Bar. Perhaps next trip we'll get to try the 'new' Gwenns, but with regard to great places, they are all pretty good and most offer both the environment and the services you are looking for. This would be another good question for your taxi driver but be certain to tell them what you're looking for as it's a small island and they all have their own favorites and friends, too. I doubt you'll run into big crowds anywhere - my experience is that AXA just isn't that way.

Have fun...... <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/handshake.gif" alt="" />

Pat has some great ideas! Elodia's is a great place to listen to a scratch band as well. Not too crowded in April when we were there, not sure how Feb will be. (Most folks know about the music at Gwen's and not so much about Elodia's.)

If you need music then Sunday is the day to go. Quieter in our experience during the week but no music.

On our last trip Uncle Ernie's seemed to provide beach service~ possibly to deliver meals that were ordered? Tropical Sunset and Hank's may do beach service for meals but not sure. In our experience though, it is always good to get up to stretch our legs so we don't mind going to get our own drinks/food.

Enjoy your trip!

[color:"blue"]Couple questions/recommendations that I have or am looking for would be:

- Any day of week better than others? - [color:"blue"]avoid Sat – this is the day the locals go back and forth shopping on the boats, and they are crowded

- Any beach bars recommendations, if so why? [color:"blue"]Elodias – great food, nice chairs, away from the crowds.

- Anything to worry about when getting a taxi? [color:"blue"][color:"blue"][color:"blue"]No –you will get him at Blowing Point, tell him you want to go to Shoal Bay East – and tell him what time to pick you up, they are all reliable. Couple I know of

But again, the taxi’s are all lined up at the dock and will happily take you to SBE and pick you up at your arranged time.

Also here is what we like:
- We like places not over too crowded, some people are fine just not elbow to elbow.
- We enjoy live music, local flavor.

[color:"blue"]Most daytime live music is on Sundays and there are many places to go. (Smokeys on Sat afternoon - Musical Bros)

Ocean Echo on Meads Bay – great food, drink and beach chairs – Omalie 360, 1-5

Davida – Crocus Bay – same as above – Natty and the House – 1-5

Sunshine Shack – Rendezvous Bay – Mystic Vybes – 2-4

Smokeys at the Cove – Cove Bay – True Intentions 1-5

Gwens – Shoal Bay East Scratch Band – 2-4

Elodias – 264 Band – 2-4

- We enjoy sitting on a beach in chairs under umbrellas.
- We like to have a bar close for refreshments or possible even wait staff (like Yellow Beach on Pinel).

Have a great trip.
Ellen
