I just saw a post on facebook that would indicate the pool will be closed for two months beginning in August. Can anyone confirm this? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duh.gif" alt="" />

I was there last week and Mery at the Tortuga Beach Cafe told me it was closing for 2 months for refurbishment. They are going to make the the pool more shallow.

Shallow? That will just increase the urine concentration level!

Making the pool more shallow will only take away from us older folks from hanging on our noodles and excerising our legs.

They have notified RCI the pool will be closed from Aug 25th till October 8th. Information comes from RCI. They are directing people to the pool at La Terrasse during this time.

Do you know when this notification came out? I'm 'assuming' the owner I renter through (in Dec.) did NOT know about this.

No, I do not know when the information came out. I'm an owner as well, but my week isn't during this closure, so I would not expect to get notified. I went through one of my other timeshares and saw the message pop up with the dates when trying to book an exchange on the RCI website.

Thanks for the dates. I too am an owner and hadn't heard anything officially but am happy it will be open by week 42 (Oct 16th) when we go Back.

I just received an email from Lucy at Royal Islander they will be starting the pool renovations August 20th

Can anyone tell me if the pool reno has started and when it is likely to be complete by?

Pool was shut down on Sunday, August 21. John the maintenance man just returned to the island, should be having dinner with him within the next two weeks and will get pool information.

Spoke to John who is overseeing the project. Expects 40 days for completion with a little wiggle room for unexpected things. Looks like he may lose a day or two real soon with the upcoming weather.

A redo was necessary on the plumbing.

Size and shape to remain the same.

Pool is gutted...whole area around pool is currently closed.
