We took USAir out of PHila to SJ to SXM. The return flight was direct, SXM to PHL. We had no problems and were actually, pretty much on time.
We rented our car from Kenny's and the pickup and return went without a hitch.
We were on SXM from May 28th till June 11th. The first week we stayed in a mini suite at Club O and the second at our timeshare at the PElican. It was our first time t stay at CO. We found it very convenient since we spent most of our time on OB. We have owned at the Pelican since the early 90's. After a serious hit by a hurricane in 95, the resort seems to be headed back to good order a little more each time we visit.
As I said we did spend all but three days on OB. We spent one shopping, one at Cupecoy, and one at Happy Bay. Cupecoy is not near as nice as it once was. Unless something changes, they have ruined it. It was our first trip to Happy Bay. It is a pretty interesting hike. There are trails that go off in various directions, we weren't sure if we would actually end up there. To our surprise when we got on the hill above the beach we saw military type vehicles, a house with cots on the balconies, along with a mounted 50Cal machine gun. One the beach there was about a half dozen inflatable water craft along with what I assume were military, although they were not in uniform. They were young men, most carrying automatic weapons.
As always, we went to LAlabama and loved the meal. We go there every visit to SXM. We also enjoyed Spiga on the French side. On the Dutch side we liked Piccolo, which is Zee Best for Breakfast & Lunch and is known as Piccolo for Dinner. Just short of the bridge on the right side is Halseys which we were told was great,,,and it was.
It had been three yrs since we had been back to SXM. I was thinking we would skip 2007 and return in 2008 but that might change. We are already talking about a return in 2007.
We had a great group on OB, way to many Bills though, it was confusing. Ya gotta lov Happy Hour at the Perch. Hope to see you all next year.
