Thanks for the thread title edit Carol, very appreciated. What a stupid mistake on my part. LOL I see ruralcarrier put a link to the hotel. I choose the hotel based on the location right at the airport. And the pricing was very reasonable. I initially had the hotel review longer in my report, giving more detail about our dining experiences, but edited it down. We had high expectations of a nice layover with a good meal and fun bar experience but were sorely disappointed with the food at the hotel. The hotel is nice, clean and as I said had a very comfortable bed. All the staff were great, but I can’t emphasize enough how bad the food is. People seated near us sent their meals back, they were replaced, but then they just walked off almost immediately, and didn’t look happy. I would not recommend the hotel unless you planned on taking an Uber to a nearby restaurant. We didn’t want to do that.
We did not have a jetway at SXM, exiting on sturdy, winding ramp. I say “sturdy” because one year I stepped out onto the ramp carrying our carryon bags and the top of the ramp wasn’t really against the plane, there was a slight gap and it moved sideways when you stepped on it. I almost lost my balance. That’s been number of years ago.
RonDon, Pinel was fun. They close during the summer months for their vacation. If you plan to be there during that time you might want to check their website to make sure when exactly they will be closed.
And yes, Carol, we are exited and fortunate to be going again in June. The April trip airfare was paid with AA points we haven’t used in awhile. My wife has her own account so we both had enough to pay for our airfare. It was a surprised birthday present for her. The June trip is our annual visit to SXM that she knew we had booked awhile back.
