We will have one night and most of the day on St. John before heading to Tortola. We are staying at St. John Inn. What are the things we should not miss on the island?

Admire the most impactful Virgin Islands port city as your ferry lands in Cruz Bay.

Spend an evening walking around Cruz Bay enjoying a couple of drinks at the 20+ safe walkable spots.

Depending on your preference, take the mostly flat hike to Salomon Bay and Honeymoon Bay for some beach time. If you want to take a taxi back to Cruz Bay, you can continue to Caneel Bay and catch a taxi back there. Or, take a taxi to a northshore Beach - Hawksnest, Trunk and Cinnamon are the easiest by taxi, and the easiest to catch a ride back.

Cheers, RickG

Hmmmm one night...is your arrival day the "most of the day, day"? Do you want to sit on a beach? if it's a non-cruiseship day and you've never been check out Trunk Bay, it has amenities such as BEER, frozen drinks, hamburgers and fries etc, showers to freshen up so you don't have to go back to the room before sightseeing through Cruz Bay. Great architecture and shops at Mongoose Junction www.Mongoosejunctionstjohn.com, great beer and rootbeer at www.stjohnbrewers.com, a nice local art gallery www.bajoelsolgallery.com. Many nice restaurants throughout Cruz Bay for lunch and dinner, our favorite is the Lime Inn, but if you are looking for the beach bar atmosphere then perhaps The Beach Bar or Banana Deck or other great places around wharfside village www.wharfsidevillage.com in the center of town is a cool Irish Pub called the Quiet Mon Pub, sit on the 2nd floor balcony and people watch.

Thanks! We will arrive on a Sunday evening but will have until around 3 the next day before we catch the ferry to Tortola. I would like to get in some beach time becuase I know these are some of the most beautiful beaches in the area. Dealing with ice and snow here today so can't wait to be on the beach next week.

Thanks! Great to know that there are so many options within walking distance at Cruz Bay.

I assume you'll be walking through town to the St John Inn when you hop off the ferry. Print a map before hand, you can't get lost and the town is small. From the dock you'll see Wharfside Village on the right...walking straight through town towards the Inn you'll cross a tiny intersection, if you turned left there you'll head towards Mongoose Junction and the North Shore beaches...turn right and you'll pass the Lime Inn and vier back to Wharfside Village. Staying straight at the intersection you'll pass Woody's Bar and Quiet Mon Pub on the left...walking up the hill there's a traffic circle and you'll see Dolphin Market on the left side and that road takes you back down towards the National Park docks and Mongoose Junction area. A little further past the circle is St John Inn

If you are an early riser I would recommend heading over to Trunk Bay early, 9:30-10am you'll have the place to yourself and by the time the crowds arrive you'll be ready to head back to the Inn. It is a beautiful beach, especially when you have it to yourself!

Agreed BEERMAN... the north shore beaches are beautiful, and the earlier you get there, the better.

There's an easy beginner snorkel trail at Trunk Bay.
