We are arriving late Saturday and will have to do some basic food shopping Sunday.
Does anyone know the Sunday hours for Simply in Hope Estate and is Grape Wine open on Sundays.
(I agree with posts in another thread that Simply has gone seriously downhill lately, but we will be just picking up sundries, snacks, wine etc. Since we will be on Orient its just much easier for us to take a quick trip to Simply rather than go into Marigot.).
Thanks
Ted

I think that Simply is open like 9 to 6. Don't know about Grape Wine..
Regardless, seriously, go about five minutes! (REALLY!) further and go to Super U. MUCH better prices and stock.. GREAT produce, great prices on wine, great specials on meat, GREAT bakery..

They close during the day on Sunday, just like SuperU. Simply is open 8 am to 1:30 pm and from 4 pm. to 7 pm.
I second that SuperU is much better. If you choose to go there, they are open 9 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm.

OK, thanks for the correction on the hours for Simply.
To the original poster, the other option is Petit Casino in Orient Village. They are open on Sundays and are very nicely stocked and decent prices. You can go there to shop OR!!! you can order online from them with FREE delivery in the Orient Beach area..

Thanks for the time information.
If I'm not mistaken, the Super U is i the Howell center in Marigot. So more like a 10 or 15 minute ride past the Simply for us. In Sunday morning traffic it might be more.
We will go after breakfast on Sunday (by the crack of noon) and will be itching to get on the beach.
Given that all we will be getting is snacks, water, soda a starter bottle or two (or three) of wine, perhaps a chunk of cheese and some things we didn't want to bother packing, its probably not worth the extra half hour or so round trip to the Super U if its a nice beach day.
Thanks again for the time info. We'll see what Sunday morning brings.

Why don't you try out Petit Casino then? They should have all of that without any problem.

I was quite surprised how much nice (i.e. French) stuff Bruno has added to Petit Casino since last year - foie gras? Yup. Good, unpasteurized French cheeses? Yup. Broader wine selection? Yup. Prices were not significantly higher than the big stores, and in some cases were lower.

I also suggest Petit Casino, for our 2 12 wks Simply was a waste of time, Petit Casino was the better stop - better duck pate for sure and the wine choices are OK, better than Simply. However you mentioned Grape wine - if you need something special, that's a different story. My advice, cruise Petit Casino, if it does the trick, more beach time for you!

We were just in Simply an hour or so ago. Shelves are empty. Couldn't find butter. Very limited selection. Its not the same Simply Market of a year ago. You know its bad when a French grocery store has empty shelves in the wine department.

Harry--did you ask someone in the store what was going on, as to why there is no stock on the shelves?

Carol_Hill said: did you ask someone in the store what was going on... No I did not. We were in a rush, and it was hard to determine the store employees from the customers. The 'normal' entrance was blocked and we entered the store though the 'exit' door.

It was reported here earlier that they have been taken over by Carrefour and all new products will be appearing in the store soon.

I thought someone said they 'heard' that they might be taken over by Carrefour, but wasn't sure if it really had been confirmed or not.

Perhaps the poster will come back and repost the details. I was under the impression that they asked an employee when shopping there.

Anyone know if the Simply on Rue de Sandy Ground is in the same shape as the one in Hope Estate?
