Can you give me a link for an airport map? Thanks
Also, I know that there has been alot of construction at the airport. We are coming in on AA (I assume that is Term D), we will have to get our luggage because we booked our tickets separately. Then we are flying to EIS on Cape Air ( I have heard it is now at Term C but check in is at Term A - what?) . We have a 3 hour layover.
Can I get some updated info on this?
Thanks

Wish I could help.
We flew out of there a month ago, but we took a cab to the airport and so we had no connection we had to negotiate.

I would see if AA will check your bags all the way through with Cape Air. They may be able to do it If you show up with all the tickets at checkin. It would be a huge reduction in the hassle factor.

George, great idea. Did not even consider that. We always code share but this time we had to book separately because we used a voucher and AA insisted that we couldn't combine CA with it also.

Back in February, I compiled this information and shared it with another traveler -

I was making some arrangements for our VG trip and had found this thread on TTOL. A poster by the name of dayhiker gives a very specific description of how to stay inside the SJU secure area and navigate from arrivals to the Cape Air check in area inside of security.

His description is on page 2 -

http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/s...part=2&vc=1

And the map he is referencing -

http://aeropuertosju.com/mapas/

In case you can check your bags all the way thru, here is my description of the walk from D to A, except you will be going to C so stop there smile

The SJU airport wasn't too bad. Use the directions and map I sent in an earlier message. We got a bit turned around and nearly followed people to the baggage claim. You will walk past the Maragittaville restaurant and along the shops quite a ways until you see the signs for the C Trrminal. Then you go thru a long corridor that is completely empty and it feels eiry and weird to be All alone. Keep going until you reach the next terminal and turn right, follow signs to a terminal a and b. The b terminal was blocked off in areas and we picked our way around caution tape. It looked like they were getting ready to polish the floors so maybe it will be open when you go thru.

In February, it looked like most of the construction in the areas of B/C was wrapping up.

In July, we didn't see any signs of construction flying out of D.

Thanks Cleo, I found that thread the other day but it was written June, 2014. I have heard there is a lot of change so just wondering if I could get some updated help.

His directions were perfect in February, exactly as he described it.

I would hope the airport reno has progressed since then but you never know in the Caribbean.....:)

It will be a hike to claim luggage and check back in again but 3 hours should give you plenty of time.

One time we used a porter and that was well worth the cost. I seem to remember he took us up an elevator and a back way (meaning we didn't exit outside) to the check-in desks.

In July, we flew into SJU on a charter. The walk from the plane, thru C & I to US Airways check-in took 20 or so minutes. We literally walked thru C & I with the briefest of a stop.

Airport renovations have been going on at SJU for as long as I can remember. More than 25 years!
Used to avoid that airport like the plague.
