I wouldn't bet on any date in 2015 .. ...we arrive April 2 2016 .... That might be the date ...

Carol may have it. I'm sitting here at Yellow Sub, and the owner of Orange Fever says maybe November. Too Much to get finished for a set date.

December 28th is my guess in time for New Year's Eve celebrations.

OK, we now have 27 votes with the optimistic being 10/12/15 and the pessimistic being 3/28/16, a six month swing. I would love to know what the original scheduled date and current scheduled date were / are. Plenty of good guesses still available!!

Since Sunblind has apparently spoken to the owner of Orange Fever, I imagine they have the most accurate idea as to the estimated opening. Since the owner says "maybe November," then November at the earliest.

April 15th...beginning of low season. And of course, tax day in the US. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

The sooner, the better for the businesses and their patrons but for us, as long as The Perch and Papagayo are open when we're in OB, we're happy. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />

OK, the greatest concentration of guesses is between 11/2/2015 and 12/14/2015 (6-12 weeks from now) with one Monday conspicuously open so I am beginning to wonder if that is not it...

I really think it will be completed close to the scheduled time they first set. Whether they will be occupied and set up for business is another thing. I'm still sticking with Nov 23.

DandM29212 said on 9/5: I think y'all are CRAZY!!! The question should be what YEAR these units will open for business!! Has everyone forgotten "Island Time"???
I'm not trying to be nasty or cynical - we're several months into this process and we've got demolition complete (oh wow!) and we've got one foundation in. We've got walls to pour and set, roofs to build, electricity, plumbing, HVAC, restaurant equipment installation, parking lots, road, landscaping, etc, etc.
This is mid-late 2016 for sure!
(and thanks to gotaluvit for the fun post!!) <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/duel.gif" alt="" /> OK, now seeing the caliber of what they're building, surely it won't be forever as I originally thought with stronger construction details, but I still think 2016 is realistic with all they have to do as far as the build-outs, roadwork, etc. Framing is usually a few weeks out of several months total construction time for a house, right? Gee, I do hope its done by Easter!

Let's add in that HVAC = the breeze, restaurant equipment = a grill and a fryer, time = motivation to operators and the government and the bet is for the first place open...this year for sure!!

The question was about the opening date of the new Orient Beach bars, meaning fully equipped, furnished, decorated and ready to roll. I don't believe a bar/restaurant will be open before late December at the earliest.

The exact question was " pick a Monday that the first establishment will open". I know because I was the one that asked it. When the first place serves their first drink or food and takes money for it that is the day (and the week) that it is "open".
It's my party and I'll cry if I want too, cry if I want to....

I'm sticking with a Monday in November and if there is not one open before our island departure, I will take my own drinks and occupy a space. I'm sure before long others will join me and we will have an opening party! <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/toast.gif" alt="" /> There are 5 Mondays in November, so lots of choice.

OK, by popular demand...or maybe just because I want to, I am upping the award for being the winner! The award is going from, well nothing, to a drink at the Perch. I will stash $10 in a hat that I will give to Willey to hang at the bar and send a photo of the hat to the winner. I will explain the deal to her but if it were me I probably would not remember, however, if you have the picture of the hat I imagine she will go along. Unfortunately, I will not be there until January 25 so you will have to pick up your prize after that.
If you have a partner you will have to use your reward at happy hour unless the Euro continues to slide!!
This is, of course, assuming that something is open before I leave!!

My guess is April 25, 2016. I'll stop and ask Willey for the $10 when that day on the beach.

I cannot pass up a chance at a free drink. We arrive Jan 28, but I'm sure the work is done before that?! Don't know how busy OB will be for American Thanksgiving, guessing a bit of lift due to the days off in the US Nov 23 would be the obvious guess, but I see lots have already taken that date, so I'll go for Nov 30
There was to be a vendors "village" and washrooms behind the new 4 pods - any word or pics about those?

Bringing this thread to the top, so people can compare their guesses with the current estimate, which is mid-November, according to the other thread.

You think? <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Wink.gif" alt="" /> If the buildings are "delivered" mid-November, meaning the main construction is completed (buildings, patios, parking lot etc...) this would leave only 1 week for the tenants, to complete the interior. My own pick of end of December for the Grand Opening of the 1st restaurant looks better and better everyday. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/Groovin.gif" alt="" />
