Hi there!
I'm cruising into Philipsburg at the end of the month and having a tough time finding out which rental car locations are close to the dock and affordable.
Any recommendations ?? Prefer local companies but open to ideas!

Try Coastal Car Rental. It is very popular with cruisers.

Could be, if you are there with several other ships. Have you checked to see how many other ships are in when you are??

Look into Hertz. They have the largest fleet in SXM and have rentals at the dock.

They book up quickly as they are very popular for one day rentals.There must be a few other ships in port that day.

What are average taxi rates? Like from Philipsburg to grand case, grand case to orient , orient to Philipsburg?

As I said in the other thread, your best bet is to hire a taxi for the day, if you want to do an ambitious 'around the island' tour.

And to add to that, Carol, everyone who has used Mr. Brooks service has spoken very highly of him. I believe J.D.'s friend Mr. Bruney also does this, no? Here's a page that shows taxi fares. From the port to Orient is $25 for 1 or 2 people. It's $30 to Grand Case. A three hour island tour is $110. Lucia's Taxi Service has a $20 discount coupon valid on the tours only.
