Hello,
any suggestions for a one-way-rental car which I can pick up in Road Town and drop it off at the airport?
It seems National/Alamo and Avis are present in Road Town but I cannot chose a one-way online.
Thank you

Doesn't matter. When you pick up the car, just tell them that you want to drop it off at the other location. They will charge you an additional fee, something like $15, I think. We have really enjoyed working with National for several trips now and they just make it so easy. In addition to the EIS and Road Town locations, they also have locations at Long Bay and West End.

National will take care of you. If you want to make sure you are covered in advance, just call them. They are very nice and helpful on the phone.

I have done that with DeDe's a few times but I believe I read on here that Deadman stopped doing that. I sure hope not because it was GREAT!!! We would get in late at night and the car would be waiting with keys under the mat and we could use it to provision and such and then just leave it in the parking lot with the key under the mat. His email address is dedescarrental@surfbvi.com If he is doing it I'm sure he wouldn't care where you pick it up at. We did the same thing in reverse from the airport (much like you want) and had a car waiting at the end of the charter and used it that day and dropped it at the airport the next day.

I was going to try DeDe on our last trip since I had heard so many good things. I called and spoke to Deadman directly. Unfortunately, he told me that he is not doing single day rentals any longer. So, this might still work for you if you are arriving by ferry, staying a week and then flying out of EIS. If, on the other hand, you want to do as Stoney suggests and rent a car for a day to get from the airport or ferry dock to your hotel, do some provisioning in the morning and drop off the car the next day, then that may not work for you. As great as Deadman and his people are, I can't imagine it is very profitable for them to drop off a car at one end of the island one day only to pick it up at the other end the next, so hard to blame them. But, that is where National has been great for us, especially when flying in to EIS. We picked up at the airport, did our thing, dropped off near our charter base after dropping everything off at the boat and they gave me a ride to the base. When sailing with TMM, they even let us just leave the keys with the TMM office when we left to go sailing.

If you are arriving by ferry into Road Town, the Road Town office is at Maria's by the Sea, so a very short walk from the ferry dock. Renting with them has been as convenient as I can imagine is possible.

One tip: do pay attention and make sure any damage to the car is noted properly when you pick it up. We have never had them try to bill us for damage to the vehicle yet, but they do look it over more carefully than you might expect, being on ilon time and all...

Does anyone know what a taxi should run from Moorings to EIS for four people? We were going to use AC's. Just wanted to get a feel for what we would be looking at.

Thanks,
Rick

Mal - are the rates in the link that Colleen sent gov't mandated or more "guidelines"? Just wondering if it is something we could printout and bring with us in case we felt like we were getting hosed...

I just got a response from BVIYC as to a recommendation for rental cars. They use itgo. I have an email into them as well as National about a one day airport pick up town drop off for our July trip. Will post the responses as I get them

National will do exactly what you need. Better to call than email though.
