You flatter me We are birds of a feather, I like taking photos of flowers too so I'll have to dig around and find a few to post. I'm a gardener and love flowers; winter in the Caribbean is always such a joy because I get to see and photograph so many beautiful, colourful things that are usually covered in snow back home until at least April or May!
Did you get your problem with Photoshop sorted out?

I agree. Did you ever see one of these? I think it was the biggest thing there. I think it's a moth. And this flower is rather intriguing

You have to hand it to the people of St. Barts, they are truly creative when keeping their island clean.

Biglar, Outstanding! Ok, we didn't find Great Bay when we were there, but your photo has me curious....I googled Great Bay images and found Sonesta, is that it? can you post any long beach shots from there?

Great Bay beach is the long beach that runs the length of Philipsburg. I believe the Sonesta is at the one end of the bay. I have some photos of Long Beach, but I have to try and find them. I have a few more I can post of other parts of St. Martin as soon as I get a chance to sit down at my desktop. Don't have them on my laptop which I am using right now.

Beerman - I just put them on Photobucket so I could put them on TTOL. I usually make a slide show after every trip we take. I have so many CDs and was starting to worry about losing all my photos so I have begun to store everything on an auxiliary hard drive.

biglar - the game with the metal balls is Petanque or Boules. It is similar to Bocci, but it is a game played mostly in the south of France. I'm a huge fan of the game and have a set of Boules balls.

charlieh - While staying at the Alamanda years ago I would visit Orient Village to watch the Petanque or Boules being played. Finally, one evening, they asked me to join them. They all spoke French, but that didn't matter. They teamed me with a fellow my age and I did quite well that night. My wife finally wandered over to the village to see what had happened to me and couldn't believe I was playing. I played a few other nights with the same guy and had a great time. Couldn't understand a word anyone said, but still had a great time. They no longer play where they used to play, since there are more tables set up for the restaurants, but I did find that they play closer to the Alamanda. I now just watch and take photos since they are a different group than from when I visited before. Heading back in 5 weeks and will venture back to the same locale again and see if my French friend is involved once more and if he remembers me. My only problem is that I still can't speak French.

We bring 2 sets of Petanque balls to SXM with us each trip. (And our luggage gets tossed by TSA every time ) My husband loves to play on the beach and grounds around ClubO. We got to see the French guys play a couple of nights in the Village too, but were not lucky enough to have been asked to join them.

It is a GREAT beach game. On the last SXM trip we did, my French friend who introduced me to Petanque joined us on Baie Rouge. I brought my Boules balls and cleared customs on the way down, but the balls were taken away at the airport in SXM on the way back. You would think that customs on the island would know what Petanque is, but we had fun playing at Baie Rouge. The owner of Petanque USA is a friend of mine, and I ordered another set from him. Whenever we go to the beach in the US, I always take my Petanque set with us, and all of our family now know this game now.

Did they take your boules from carry on luggage? We always check our luggage with the petanque set. Yes, I agree it's a great beach game and we've introduced quite a few people to the game...and made some money for your friend at Petanque USA.

So other than the obvious fact that the French balls are noticeably smaller than the Italian balls, what are the other differences in the game.
