I can understand your excitement..we are at 25 days and counting!
I was sorting through my preliminary pile of safari clothes and am starting to collect all the odds and ends we will want to bring along.
Last weekend we purchased a new point and shoot camera, the digital Canon SD400 as a back up to our full size digital and a mono pod.
Also, ordered a Archos ARGM400 Gmini 400 Pocket Music & Video Player for photo storage. Plus we can download some audio books to listen to on those LONG flights.
So Carol..how big is your clothes pile???

Ah, we have most of our stuff collected on the bed in the spare bedroom already. Not really that many clothes, 3 pairs of long pants each, some tops, 2 shorts each, plus jackets and a couple of sweaters. We are still waiting for our second pair of binocs to come in the mail--got them on Ebay. Still have to figure out how to use the doubler on my lens for my Nikon D70, as it causes the autofocus to not work. We bought a digital video camera also, and have to figure out how to work that!! Also have to buy some more memory cards for both cameras. Wow, this trip is a lot of work!!!!

Ah, you folks have no reason to be envious! You've lived in Botswana and now living in ST. Martin!! Now I'M envious of that!!!

Hope to take some really great pictures while we're there! Maybe I'll bring some samples for you to see in October!!

Congrats!!! So excited for you. We still have 202 days!!

May I ask what vaccinations you ended up getting? I'm thinking I need to get to my doctor soon to get going on this, but I keep reading conflicting reports on what is needed for Botswana and Zambia.

We got polio and tetanus boosters, as well as prescriptions for malarone for malaria and two prescriptions for travellers diaherra (sp!!!). Our doctor actually said that we should get Hepatitis B series, but it takes 90 days to receive the whole series, and we did not have 90 days before our trip, so we did NOT get that..

The shots were not required, but recommended. The malaria pills are required. So no real rush unless you want the hep.B series, then that takes 90 days to complete the series. 30 days apart for each shot if I remember right.
