We are going to Grand Case for dinner one night. We are staying at the Villas of Simpson Bay. While I will have a car, I simply do not drive at night, so taxi it is.

Does anyone have a taxi service they like to utilize while on the island?

Thanks so much,
Barbara

Wilfred Brooks!

Very nice gentleman, very careful driver, often uses a very nice sedan car for evening taxi rides. Highly recommended!

I couldn't agree with you more Carol. Wilfred Brooks gave us excellent service in a very nice sedan for a dinner at Bistrot Caraibes last trip. We've booked him three times.
Here's a photo from Bistrot Caraibes. I know it's off topic, but I couldn't resist. What wonderful food! I had scallops on bacon foam and she had thermidor.

Wilfred Brooks is the best! We have used him every year since 2013 for all of our needed taxi service. He is a TTOL sponsor, and you can access his contact information through the TTOL sponsor page.

Not to muddy the field by since you are staying at the Simpson Bay Villas why not use one of the numerous Taxi and private drivers that are always gathered on the lot between the Villas and BBB. Richie is one of those and used to work at the Flamingo before Irma. Now he services people out of that lot. Very nice personable and dependable man.

As I recall the lot you are talking about is where we parked our car for the Villas last year. Is this the same one? I don't recall seeing any taxi drivers there. But I was busy trying to get m husband around!)

This is not the lot that you parked in. It’s strictly for taxis. It’s right before the security booth you drive past going to the lower entrance of the villas.

You can use the SRV shuttle (SXM Taxi ?) from Pelican area to area from Pineapple Pete's to bridge. We used them several times from La Vista. No fixed fee, $5 - $10 tip. Or more if major traffic snafu.

This is a screen shot from a video we made about the bumpy ride down Billy Folly Road to get down to Welfare Road from Flamingo. I believe this is the parking lot for cabs that Scubaman is talking about, like Steve Bond said it's right before the security booth to go into SBR parking lot. The other pic I took years ago from inside that parking lot looking out at Simpsons Bay and is still my screensaver on my cell phone to this day

Barbara--obviously, you can use whoever you want to. But one advantage of Wilfred Brooks is that you can contact him ahead of time from home and get a quote from him, if you want.

Yes. That is the lot. Just tell them where and when you want to go, get a quote and see if it works. I know Richie will take you there and wait till you need to leave.

Hi Carol, I just booked Wilfred Brooks for 2 different taxi trips. He even told me he would walk me to a restaurant in the marina if I decided to go to that one. What a kind gentleman. Thank you and everyone else who praised him.

SBR Villa shuttle is a private company. They worked out an agreement which allows them to transport non SBR people. Harry on most nights. Phone 721-580-6331.

Carol, By the time I was finished talking with Wilfred, i felt like I had gained a new friend. We talked and laughed together. So personable. I know now that I will not worry about any driving at night...won't happen. Wilfred to the rescue!

Does anyone want to comment on the approximate cost of a round trip from Simpson Bay to Grand Case? How do you do the return? Preset time? Call?

Leagle--it's been a few years since we used Wilfred, so I won't hazard a guess on the current cost. I think we called him at the end.

Did Wilfred quote you a price? I just checked on rental cars for January and was astonished by the daily rate. I’m thinking maybe it would be better to walk places and use Wilfred for the occasional outing.

Tim--Wilfred has a US number, so you could call him yourself. January is a ways away, so he might not be willing to do a firm price for then, but you can call.

Barbara,

I know this will be a tough trip for you but you’ve got this, Girl! All your efforts and plans will be a wonderful tribute. God bless....
