Sorry Scuba Dude if you found this offensive. I used a word that would quickly identify the person running the show at Hertz now days. They don't wear name tags. You think you are an expert on sxm and Hertz? I just completed a 6 week rental on a mid size Toyota that cost me $110/week. Download that.

Not looking to pick a fight with you and don't claim to be an expert. Have just been going to St Maarten for over 20 years and only convey what I have experienced through those years. The word you used to descibe her is and was offensive. The person you refered to is not the owner or manager nor was that her name.. She works the front desk and is a delightfull person.

Just to be clear, more than one poster mentioned the name of "Reina" so that in fact may be her name. I have no idea on the name but with two people mentioning the name, it may well be.

SXMBND--very valid points. We looked at putting an awning on our back deck last fall, didn't really have the money to do it, and now the price for materials alone is up close to 50%... It's that way with everything. I just don't understand anyone getting upset that a price isn't held for almost a year in this day and age. How many people get a quote, with zero consideration paid, and find a better deal along the way and just walk away?? If a non-refundable deposit were required, then I would expect the vendor to honor the price and terms.

I know for a fact that is not her name. Reina is a different person and works in the office not the front desk unless there are two people working there with the same name.

I’m another one who had a car rented and confirmed with Hertz from 6 months ago. Got the same email that everybody else did increasing my rate by double. Went back and forth with them but in the end, cancelled my reservation and ended up going with Michael at Unity. I do however plan to post a negative review on Trip Advisor.

Exactly, just like we have the right to choose other companies in the future that don't change our rates. I have never had a rate change from any of the companies I have used on island(or any where else in the world for that matter), never an issue of we don't have that car in stock, or when we did we were upgraded at the same cost.
