Did a dry run to complete EHAS application. I just want to make sure we fill it out properly so as to limit our chances of being denied.

What should be filled in at the Port of Embarkation? We will be leaving from Milwaukee, Wisconsin connecting in CLT. So would it be Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Charlotte, or United States or?

What should be completed at the Transit stop en route to Sint Maarten? Yes, since we have a layover in Charlotte? If yes, I'm assuming it would be United States?

I'm sorry to sound ignorant, but I just want to fill it in correctly.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Jenni,

We just returned from SXM, flying from Minneapolis to SXM via Charlotte. On all 4 EHAS forms we entered our Port of Embarkation as Charlotte, and for Transit stop we said "no", as there were no stops between CLT and SXM. All 4 forms were approved the first time. Hope this helps!

Not a problem. If you are submitting multiple EHAS forms, make sure each person has their own email address. (They send a daily email to provide your temp, so need a different email for each person.) Some on this board have reported getting denied when using multiple applications with the same email address. Enjoy your trip!

The transit stop question refers to SXM being a stop in transit to another location, so the answer is no. And yes, your point of embarkation is CLT. If you're denied and everything is correct on your application form, resubmit it.

Times to get test and submit have changed so many times that I'm confused again (easy for me to be lol). Is it 72 hours from departure time (direct flight) or 72 hours before arrival time?

Here in RI I'm having trouble finding any test site that says less that 3 or 4 days turn around.

From the EHAS website:
As of February 12 2021 the rt-PCR test time frame will be reduced from 120 to 72 hours, before departure to Sint Maarten for all travelers originating from a high risk country (last leg in case of connecting flights).

So a person flying from, say, Pittsburgh to Atlanta to SXM will need to have the test sample taken 72 hours or less before the day and time that the flight leaves ATL.

I mentioned a few times here that the RI convention center drive thru had a 20 (wife) to 26 (me) hour turnover on the last two tests we had...and VERY easy to get an appointment ...and it is at no cost.

Edit: I just checked the appointment site and EVERY DAY is open. Tomorrow through SUnday from 0800-430p ...all time slots available. They have got this down pat...now vaccines are another issue

It's always been from departure of last flight to SXM. Never arrival.

When you make the testing appointment at the RI Convention Center inform them that you need it for your trip and they will expedite your results.

That was in the earlier days of testing. Yes, you can indicate "travel" for a reason for testing but now they all go to the same lab. I specifically asked the last time we were tested and was told the turnaround time decreased significantly making the distinction moot....and we did get the results right around 24 hours later

Also...needing to go to the specific lab portal is also gone. The full report is in the RI DPH portal whereas previously that portal just said "negative" . They really have their act together now and after four tests there we have witnessed the improvement

Aanyone have experience of returning to SXM and already paid the $30. insurance ?

I made a return application yesterday and got a reply to that said to submit a payment for insurance or application would be canceled in 24 hours.

I understand that the insurance is for a specific visit and expires on departure. A return visit would have to repeat the process and pay for the insurance again

boucharda--yes, that is correct, the insurance is only for the extent of your stay. If you leave SXM, then you have to get a new insurance policy.

Gotta say, WLE, you have gone down under the insurance requirement, and you are back again already? Wow..

Okay, I guess we have to pay twice. Our Covid vaccine schedule came while in SXM and we didn't want to pass up the opportunity.

Were there for three weeks, came home to a blizzard and want get out of here before the next one and the 30 degree below weather coming in

behind it next week.

OK, that makes sense, I would have done the same. Wish I could get a shot.
